A new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll shows Donald Trump trailing Hillary Clinton by double digits in the wake of the release of a 2005 video in which he makes lewd comments about women. The poll was conducted prior to Sunday night’s debate.
The weekend poll shows Clinton over Trump by 11 points in a four-way matchup, which includes Libertarian Party candidate Gary Johnson and Green Party candidate Jill Stein.
In a head-to-head matchup, Clinton’s lead grows to 14 percent.
Fifty-two percent of respondents said the video should be an issue in the campaign — vs. 42 percent who said it should not.
MSNBC News anchor Andrea Mitchell could barely contain her excitement as she gleefully announced the poll results in a “breaking news” report.
The Real Clear Politics average shows Clinton +5.8 — leading in nine of 10 polls tracked.
A CNN/ORG post-debate poll found that 57 percent of debate watchers believed Clinton won, compared to 34 percent for Trump.
