Hillary Was Slammed for ‘Basket of Deplorables’ Comment. Now Her New ‘Basement Dwellers’ Insult Comes to Light…

Hillary Clinton was widely criticized in September for referring to “half” of Trump supporters as a “basket of deplorables.”

She also called them “racist,” “sexist,””homophobic,” “xenophobic” and “Islamophobic” but it was the “deplorables” blast that grabbed the headlines and caused the stir — for which she later kinda sorta apologized.

In a newly released hacked audio clip from a February fundraiser, Hillary can be heard describing Bernie Sanders supporters, in part, this way:

“Some are new to politics completely. They’re children of the Great Recession. And they are living in their parents’ basement.

There’s just a deep desire to believe that we can have free college, free healthcare, that what we’ve done hasn’t gone far enough, and that we just need to, you know, go as far as, you know, Scandinavia, whatever that means, and half the people don’t know what that means, but it’s something that they deeply feel.”

It didn’t take long for #BasementDwellers to hit Twitter — or for the news media to pick up on the story and run with it.

Fox News host Jesse Watters stopped by “Fox & Friends” to share his thoughts:

Twitter sprang into action immediately:

Those who believe Hillary’s comments were taken out of context jumped in, as well:

So which was it? Mockery or empathy?

While it’s true that Hillary didn’t reference Millennial Sanders supporters in the same context as “basket of deplorables,” she did seem to suggest that many of them were ‘naive’ enough to buy into all of Bernie’s ‘free stuff,’ did she not?

What do you think?
