‘Your Humor Is Not Acceptable’: House Judiciary Democrats Unload on Acting AG Matt Whitaker

A long-awaited House Judiciary Committee hearing with Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker grew heated on Friday, with Democratic members of the committee repeatedly butting heads with the acting head of the Department of Justice.

The hearing started on a sour note when Whitaker attempted to cut off Chairman Jerry Nadler’s (D-N.Y.) line of questioning by noting that the five-minute time limit had expired. Democratic members of the committee erupted in laughter as Whitaker overstepped his role as a witness before the committee.

From there, things didn’t get much better. Whitaker repeatedly seemed to chew away at committee members’ time through long-winded and indirect answers. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) attempted to bypass Whitaker’s approach by requesting that he answer with a simple “Yes” or “No.”

Ranking Member Doug Collins (R-Ga.) interjected to argue that Whitaker be allowed to answer how he feels best appropriate. When Jackson Lee asked Nadler for her time to be restored, Whitaker responded as if the question had been directed towards him.

“I don’t know if your time’s been restored or not,” he said.

“Mr. Attorney General, we’re not joking here,” Jackson Lee fired back. “And your humor is not acceptable.”

The heated back and forth continued with nearly every Democratic member of the committee. Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) opened his time by questioning how Whitaker even ended up in his position.

“I’m confused, I really am,” Jeffries explained. “We’re all trying figure out who are you, where did you come from and how the heck did you become the head of the Department of Justice.”

As Whitaker attempted to respond, Jeffries interjected to explain he was making a statement and not asking a question.

“I’ll assume you know the difference,” Jeffries added.

Whitaker found himself in yet another standoff later as Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) attempted to ask a question about Whitaker’s previous charity work.

“You have challenged my character,” Whitaker began to say after Raskin repeatedly asked for the name of the charity the acting attorney general had previously run.

Raising his voice, Raskin cut off Whitaker before he could continue.

“Mr. Whitaker, you don’t run this committee,” Raskin said. “You don’t run the Congress of the United States, and you don’t run the Judiciary Committee.”

Who’d you rather have in your corner, Whitaker or the Bobbsey triplets, the tribunal of phony Pharisees Jeffries, Raskin and Lee?

What the A-hole Democrats never realized was that Whitaker attended their sh!t show at HIS leisure! He had the right to clam up under the 5th ammendment or executive privilege, yet he opted to play along for the sake of getting these A-holes on video! It will make for some… Read more »
