The Obama administration first started its fight against ISIS in September of 2014.
Since that time, we’ve launched countless airstrikes and even sent in special forces operators to help quell the threat. And according to a new House probe, the current administration reportedly hasn’t been completely transparent or honest about our successes.
In fact, as Commander-in-Chief, Obama said of ISIS in November of 2015:
“I don’t think they’re gaining strength. What is true is that from the start, our goal has been first to contain and we have contained them.
They have not gained ground in Iraq, and in Syria they’ll come in, they’ll leave, but you don’t see this systemic march by ISIL across the terrain.”
The House report discovered that, CENTCOM, which oversees the fight against ISIS, did the following:
- Softened intelligence assessments
- Didn’t give the right information, which could have put American lives in jeopardy
- Put out misleading press statements
- And misled with congressional testimony about how the fight with ISIS was going
And they don’t just have footholds in Iraq and Syria any longer, the jihadists also have territory in Libya and just formed an alliance with the Taliban in eastern Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, as ISIS continues to spread its poison, the investigation into the ‘cooked intelligence’ found by the House is ongoing.
