Radio hosts Charlamagne Tha God and DJ Envy criticized the Democratic Partyâs strategy to resist President Donald Trumpâs agenda.
Journalist Morgyn Wood said on the âFront Page Newsâ segment of âThe Breakfast Clubâ that certain Democrats have condemned Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer for supporting a GOP-backed government funding bill, arguing he âshould be opposing Trumpâs agenda at every turn.â Charlamagne and Envy disagreed with the strategy, asserting it could hurt Americans who might benefit from Trumpâs agenda.

âI donât think that you should, you know, push back against the agenda just because you donât like a person,â Charlamagne said.
Envy noted the way Wood characterized Democratic backlash against Schumer made it seem like Democrats want to resist âanything that Trump does.â
âWhat happens if you like it?â Envy asked.
Charlamagne claimed some Democrats want to constantly oppose Trump because of how Republicans resisted former President Barack Obamaâs agenda. However, he said he disapproves of that approach.
âIf something benefits the people, you got to go what benefits the people,â Envy responded.
âExactly, âcause this is a bipartisan government. You have Republicans and Democrats, and you need Republicans and Democrats to get things done,â Charlamagne said. âSo, I donât think â I donât agree with the logic of just pushing back because you donât agree, you know, because you donât like a person or because you donât like a party.â
Trump has backed policies with vast public support, such as barring biological males from female sports, deporting illegal immigrants and reducing government waste.
However, nearly two-thirds of Democrats do not want their congressional lawmakers to make compromises with the president, regardless of whether it impedes bipartisan advancements, according to a March 16 NBC News poll.
Moreover, Democratic Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett admitted during a Sunday interview that she was prioritizing resisting Trump over passing legislation.
âI should probably be a better politician and tell you, âYes, weâve got all this amazing legislation that I can absolutely imagine Donald Trump signing into law.â Iâm just not gonâ lie ⌠right now, I can tell you that, unfortunately, I am not working towards very much that I would consider being the progress train,â Crockett said. âI am working to make sure that I can minimize the regress train right now. And I thinkâ and I hope â that my district appreciates that I am being honest with them.â
Democratic New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand also said during a March 5 podcast that she struggles to back Trumpâs âpopularâ ideas because she thinks he is cruel.
âHeâs really leaned into this populism, which is, as is typical, populism is popular. And what has been hardest for a lot of people like me to deal with is that heâs so disingenuous. He doesnât mean it. And he says things that could be popular with everyone, but then does it in the meanest, most divisive way possible,â she said. âAnd he just takes that oxygen out of the room every time. So itâs just disappointing. You want a president to be a president for all people and he keeps choosing not to be that guy.â
