Trans-identifying mass shooter Robin Westman confessed in a manifesto that he âwas tired of being transâ and wished he had ânever brainwashedâ himself.
Westman shared his disturbing manifesto on YouTube before he gunned down the Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and killed two children on Wednesday. He wrote that he only kept his long hair because it would be an âembarrassing defeatâ to cut it, according to a translation by the New York Post.
âI only keep because it is pretty much my last shred of being trans. I am tired of being trans, I wish I never brain-washed myself,â Westman said, according to the translation. âI canât cut my hair now as it would be an embarrassing defeat, and it might be a concerning change of character that could get me reported. It just always gets in my way. I will probably chop it on the day of the attack.â
Westman changed his name from Roger to Robin in 2019 under the approval of his mother, Mary, because he identified as a female, court records show. The petition, which was granted in January 2020, stated that Westman âidentifies as a female and wants her name to reflect that identification.â
The shooter also said that he regretted being âtransâ and wished he were a girl, but he did not have the money to make the bodily changes necessary, according to the Post.
âI regret being trans.. I wish I was a girl I just know I cannot achieve that body with the technology we have today. I also canât afford that,â Westman said.
In his journal, Westman also wrote that he did not want to wear girly clothes all the time because he understood he is not a woman, but he âdefinitely feel like a man,â the Post reported. He also disturbingly praised the Sandy Hook school shooting in 2012 and wrote about his fantasies to be a âscary horrible monster standing over those powerless kidsâ ahead of the tragic shooting in Minneapolis.
Hours before the shooting, Westman posted videos to YouTube where he zoomed in on ammunition, multiple guns and cartridges with cryptic messages written on them, including one that called to kill President Donald Trump.
Westmanâs mother worked as a secretary at the Annunciation Catholic School for five years before her retirement in 2021.
Democratic Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey spent an entire minute during Wednesdayâs press conference lecturing people not to âvillainize the trans communityâ in the wake of the shooting.
The media appears hesitant to cover the fact that Westman was transgender. Many outlets, including The Washington Post and NBC News, used Westmanâs preferred feminine pronouns in their coverage of the shooter.
