Parkland students participated at an Education Week forum on Thursday, and activists David Hogg and Emma Gonzalez, who have hundreds of thousands of Twitter followers due to their aggressive gun control stances after the shooting at their school, were on the panel.
Hogg began explaining that Chicago can't be used as an example of gun control failure because people are getting their guns from other states.
He claimed Republicans are using Chicago and other places that have similar laws as “case examples,” and “they don't want to do anything there” so that they can “point to that and be like, 'gun control doesn't work.'”
Gonzalez then chimed in.
“It’s just cheaper to take away the guns that aren't imperative to living in America. You don't need an AR-15 to protect yourself in bed from a robber at night,” she said before adding:
“You don't need an AR-15 to have fun at a shooting range. Go join the Army if you want to have fun shooting off a weapon, and serve your f**king country. Excuse my language.”
