The U.S. economy has surged to a 4.1 percent growth rate, and it's “an economic turnaround of historic proportions,” President Donald Trump proudly said of the accomplishment.

“If economic growth continues at this pace, the U.S. economy will double in size more than 10 years faster than it would have under either President Bush or President Obama,” he said

In the second quarter of the year, the U.S. gross domestic product (GDP) nearly doubled the first quarter's 2.2 percent as it rose to a whopping 4.1 percent — the highest rate since the third quarter in 2014, Daily Wire reported.

“We’ve accomplished an economic turnaround of historic proportions,” President Trump told reporters on the White House South Lawn. “Once again, we are the economic envy of the entire world.”

Years ago, the four percent mark was unheard of to many. In 2016 when CNNMoney surveyed 11 economists, who claimed, “Donald Trump is dreaming” after then-candidate Trump said it's time to establish the goal of meeting four percent economic growth.

The Los Angeles Times reported in 2016 that former President Barack Obama's Chief Economist Jason Furman said, “It would require everything to go right…in ways that are either historically unparalleled or toward the upper end of the historical range.”

Others, however, weren't surprised he pulled it off:

“America is being respected again and America is winning again because we are finally putting America first,” President Trump further celebrated the growth. “These are unthinkable numbers.”

He also predicted the U.S. is on track to continue the growth, saying, “I happen to think we're going to do very well in our next report. I think the numbers are going to be outstanding.”
