Immigration Activists Try to Stop the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade — It Does Not End Well for Them

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City is considered to be a staple in people’s celebration of the holiday. The parade, televised nationwide, was seen as an opportunity for some immigration activists to stage a demonstration directly in its path.

People advocating for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program are seen bypassing the barriers and placing themselves on the road while chanting, “Undocumented, unafraid.”

Before they were able to cause too much disruption to the parade, New York City police officers quickly led them away.

The protesters were part of an organization called the Seed Project. In a press release, the group stated it disrupted the parade in order to show its “commitment to winning permanent protection for Young Undocumented Immigrants in the Country.”
