On Sunday night, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas used a lengthy two-and-a-half-hour speech to bash Israel, the United States, President Donald Trump and various other leaders.
“Since when did we reject negotiations?” he asked and added, “Yekhreb Beitak,” which translated literally means, according to the AP, “may your house be demolished,” although it can have different colloquial meanings.
He (Friedman) is an offensive human being, and I will not agree to meet with him anywhere. They requested that I meet him and I refused. Nikki Haley too. She threatens to hit people who hurt Israel with the heel of her shoe, and the response to her speech will be harsher.
During his speech, Abbas claimed that Israel was created because Europe wanted to unload Jews and not because of a severe problem with displaced people after the Holocaust.
“They wanted to bring Jews here from Europe to maintain European interests in the region,” he said. “They asked Holland, which had the largest navy in the world, to transfer the Jews.”
Despite deeply religious ties to the area, Abbas claimed: “Israel is a colonialist project that has nothing to do with Jews.”
In response to the speech, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu posted a video on Facebook, during which he said Abbas “has revealed the truth.” He explained:
He has torn off the mask and shown to the public the simple truth that I have been working to instill for many long years: The root of the conflict between us and the Palestinians is their steadfast refusal to recognize the Jewish state in any borders whatsoever.
The AP reported that Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman added that the Palestinian president had “lost his senses.”
