After Monday morning’s news about her husband’s adventures in using a private email account to evade government oversight, it seemed only a matter of time before we found out Ivanka Trump did the same thing.
From The Hill:
The documents show Ivanka Trump exchanged the emails with [Small Business Administration Administrator Linda] McMahon about a month before she became an official government employee, though she had been involved with high-level meetings within the administration. However, Ivanka Trump copied her chief of staff, Julie Radford, on the emails. In them, Radford has a White House email account.
Obviously, it is clear what our nation must do next: yell about Hillary Clinton’s email practices.
A White House spokesman came up with this excuse for Ivanka:
“Ivanka Trump was not a federal employee in February. She elected to become a federal employee in March. At the time she did so, she made clear that one of her reasons for doing so was to ensure that she would have access to government-issued communications devices and receive an official email account to protect government records.”
She may not have been an official employee yet, but it was clear to anyone with a functional brain stem that she was heavily involved in the transition and in setting up the new administration.
She had a chief of staff with a White House email account, which raises the question of why she had a chief of staff in the White House at all if she had not yet “decided” to join the federal government. The White House statement fails its own logic.
I look forward to the chants of “Lock her up” at Donald Trump’s next big rally.
