This past year hasn’t been the best for Jeb Bush.
After a failed run at a Republican presidential bid, he was forced to bow out—but not before getting into a heated name-calling war with Donald Trump.
Trump called Bush an “embarrassment to his family,” telling CNN’s Wolf Blitzer this past February:
“Jeb is having some kind of a breakdown. He’s an embarrassment to his family. He has to bring his mother out and walk his mother around at 90 years old. I think it’s a very sad situation that’s taking place.”
Well, for those who thought Jeb! had made a permanent exit from the political stage, think again.
Just seconds into the 2016 Emmy Awards opening video, Bush made a surprise appearance alongside host Jimmy Kimmel as an Uber driver who was “in between jobs.”
He then offered up Kimmel some painfully awkward advice on how Kimmel can win votes to take home an award:
“If you run a positive campaign, the voters will obviously make the right choice.”
He then added:
“Jimmy, that was a joke…”
For those who missed it, here is the hilariously awkward sketch in all its glory:

Within seconds of the “Jeb Exclamation Point” sketch, Twitter users were commenting about the cringeworthy moment:
My soul was not prepared for the deep, despairing, existential sadness of seeing Jeb Bush in a limo driver outfit tonight. #Emmys

Jeb Bush humanizes himself about 6 months too late. #Emmys

As if it wasn’t awkward enough, some people didn’t even recognize him…
I didn’t recognize Jeb Bush right away. I thought it was Chevy Chase at first, but then he started being funny.

Maybe next year will be better, Jeb.
