According to former 2016 Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush, it might be beneficial if Republican contender enters the 2020 race.
During an interview set to air Saturday, Bush claimed that Republicans deserved a different choice other than President Donald Trump for 2020.
“I think someone should run just because Republicans ought to be given a choice,” Bush said. “It’s hard to beat a sitting president, but to have a conversation about what it is to be a conservative, I think it’s important.”

As IJR reported, Trump and Bush have gone back and forth with insults in the past, with Trump calling Bush “low energy.” Bush fired back after the 2016 election, claiming that at least he returned home to children “who actually love me” as an insult to the president.
.@JebBush: Republican should challenge @realDonaldTrump in ‘20.

Not all of Bush’s comments toward Trump have been negative. In a 2017 interview, Bush claimed that Trump has made some good changes during his time in office.
“The president has made some really good appointments. He’s acted decisively in some areas that I think are important, particularly on the regulatory side,” said Bush.
“He hasn’t shifted to being president in the way that people are used to, and I think that’s the problem, I would say. The strength is that he’s acted in a good way and lifted people’s spirits in terms of economic growth and job creation.”
However, he cautioned against the president continuing to be so outspoken on social media, saying that it could do more harm than good.
“A little bit, yeah. And I hope he learns that it’s one thing to do it as a candidate when you’re garnering a huge following on Twitter and people go to massive rallies where people clearly love him, [but] another thing is when you’re the president [and] your words have consequences that go way beyond that,” said Bush.
There are multiple people running for the Democratic nomination, but Trump has been the only Republican to announce his 2020 campaign.
