Jim Acosta’s WH Pass Suspended: Read Sarah Sanders’ Explanation and CNN’s Response

CNN’s Jim Acosta no longer has access to the White House.

In a long Twitter thread posted on Wednesday night, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders explained that she suspended CNN reporter Jim Acosta’s press credentials.

“President Trump believes in a free press and expects and welcomes tough questions of him and his Administration,” she started.

“We will, however, never tolerate a reporter placing his hands on a young woman just trying to do her job as a White House intern…”

Her comments came just after Acosta repeatedly asked President Donald Trump questions and refused to give a White House intern the microphone so someone else could ask a question.

Watch their exchange below:

According to Sanders, Acosta’s conduct was “absolutely unacceptable.”

She went on to defend the president and argue that CNN unfairly attacked him.

She concluded by explaining that the White House suspended Acosta’s pass.

Read Acosta’s Response

Acosta accused Sanders of lying in her tweet about touching the intern:

He also posted a video from when the Secret Service asked for his pass to the White House.

CNN defended Acosta in response and claimed the White House was retaliating against him.

The network said the suspension “was done in retaliation for his challenging questions at today’s press conference.”

“In an explanation, Press Secretary Sarah Sanders lied,” it added. “She provided fraudulent accusations and cited an incident that never happened. This unprecedented decision is a threat to our democracy and the country deserves better. Jim Acosta has our full support.”

Here’s another angle of the exchange. Watch it and decide for yourself.

Acosta has the right to answer questions, and the President has the right to answer them how he sees fit, then ask Acosta to end it. By badgering Trump, not following his instructions, Acosta, as a GUEST in the WH, lost his *privilege* to be there. There are plenty of… Read more »

Jim Acosta should have had his WH access removed two years ago. He acts like a spoiled two year old. To CNN, there is no suppression of the press or “threat to our democracy”. Surely you have other “reporters” who can replace JA. The only reason that this is “unprecedented”… Read more »

How long have you been watching WH press conference? Acosta’s behavior is not unprecedented.

You poor folks have the misconception that the WH press corp is the WH PR department. The press is not asking questions for themselves. They are asking questions for the American people-That would include you. If you wish to hear the news only as the President wishes it to be… Read more »

What happened to your “red wave” prediction? How did you manage to lose Mark Sanford’s seat? Katie Arrington was Trump’s pick in the primary in order to punish Sandford for not sucking up to him. That came back to bite him in the butt. You also lost 30 seats of… Read more »

thanks for bringing Watergate into this, softaintheheada. Like it applies at all!!!! Thank you, again for showing how you lie about “your facts”. Republicans lost 21 seats running for re-election, not 30. Another softaintheheada lie! 21 is less than “your” stated average than 23.

Blue wave = sad bye-bye? The much-touted wishful thinking promoted by the MSM, Dims, etc. was more a slightly-higher tide. (blame global warming) Your side won the House, not be a great margin, but failed to gain the Senate. The Reprobates still control that, the SC and other judgeships, and… Read more »

Phil, what does Sanford have to do with Acosta’s laying of hands on a much smaller, female person AND hogging the mike? It makes me wonder what would your husband or children do if someone did that to you? Acosta could have hugged the mike to himself, stuck it under… Read more »

After all, his hands were “busy”. Never let a good opening go to waste.

What a crock. I don’t like Acosta, but he was clearly gesturing when she reached in front of him to snatch the mic away, behavior that would have resulted in a spanking for my kids when they were young. Sanders even felt the need to tweet out a doctored video… Read more »

his left hand coming down on that intern’s elbow area was clearly an attempt to get that young lady’s hand off of the mic. Spin it how you want, michael moore, that was NOT a gesture.

You are an idiot. Watch the video. The only gesture he made was to push her arm away and jerk the mic out of her hand

You seem so confident Patrick. Avoiding ad hominem attacks might help your argument be more credible.

There are days here at IJR that the Trumpster posters are out to prove Bertrand Russel;s quote correct. “The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.” If someone that has lied to them over 5,000 times since taking office tells… Read more »

Sorry to disappoint–was traveling, not dying. Was that your plan for not being called out on your repeated pronouncements of a “red wave”? Not much of a plan.

Never called a red wave . Just denied the blue one

Michael, great effort and comment, but some of these folks still believe Mexico is paying for the wall, the 2017 Tax law was a middle class tax cut, the caravan “invasion” was real, and the Mueller probe is a “witch hunt.” They see what they want to see. They hear… Read more »

The video is conclusive and confirms the contact without a doubt. His intent was apparent; push her away so he could keep the mic.

It is clear that Acosta did not do that of which he has been accused by the administration. Trump really thinks he can continue to get away with this demagoguery.
