Jim Acosta’s WH Pass Suspended: Read Sarah Sanders’ Explanation and CNN’s Response

CNN’s Jim Acosta no longer has access to the White House.

In a long Twitter thread posted on Wednesday night, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders explained that she suspended CNN reporter Jim Acosta’s press credentials.

“President Trump believes in a free press and expects and welcomes tough questions of him and his Administration,” she started.

“We will, however, never tolerate a reporter placing his hands on a young woman just trying to do her job as a White House intern…”

Her comments came just after Acosta repeatedly asked President Donald Trump questions and refused to give a White House intern the microphone so someone else could ask a question.

Watch their exchange below:

According to Sanders, Acosta’s conduct was “absolutely unacceptable.”

She went on to defend the president and argue that CNN unfairly attacked him.

She concluded by explaining that the White House suspended Acosta’s pass.

Read Acosta’s Response

Acosta accused Sanders of lying in her tweet about touching the intern:

He also posted a video from when the Secret Service asked for his pass to the White House.

CNN defended Acosta in response and claimed the White House was retaliating against him.

The network said the suspension “was done in retaliation for his challenging questions at today’s press conference.”

“In an explanation, Press Secretary Sarah Sanders lied,” it added. “She provided fraudulent accusations and cited an incident that never happened. This unprecedented decision is a threat to our democracy and the country deserves better. Jim Acosta has our full support.”

Here’s another angle of the exchange. Watch it and decide for yourself.

Acosta has the right to answer questions, and the President has the right to answer them how he sees fit, then ask Acosta to end it. By badgering Trump, not following his instructions, Acosta, as a GUEST in the WH, lost his *privilege* to be there. There are plenty of others at CNN to step up and ask tough questions in a professional, not adversarial manner.

Jim Acosta should have had his WH access removed two years ago. He acts like a spoiled two year old. To CNN, there is no suppression of the press or “threat to our democracy”. Surely you have other “reporters” who can replace JA. The only reason that this is “unprecedented” is because JA’s behavior is unprecedented in the WH press corp.

He absolutely put his hands on her. Not only tht when she tried to get the mic her jerked it out of her hand

What a crock. I don’t like Acosta, but he was clearly gesturing when she reached in front of him to snatch the mic away, behavior that would have resulted in a spanking for my kids when they were young. Sanders even felt the need to tweet out a doctored video in an attempt to support her ridiculous claim. More of a Goebbelsish move than an act that supports free speech, don’t you think?

The video is conclusive and confirms the contact without a doubt. His intent was apparent; push her away so he could keep the mic.

It is clear that Acosta did not do that of which he has been accused by the administration. Trump really thinks he can continue to get away with this demagoguery.
