It’s no secret that the last year-and-a-half has been a challenging time for “19 Kids and Counting” parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar:

Celebrating 51 years today!! We love you, Jim Bob!! Happy birthday sweetheart!! You are a wonderful husband and a great Father! We are so grateful for your Godly example to us in being a spiritual leader and encourager in each of our lives! I'm so grateful to be married to you!!?
The family is just coming out of a nationwide scandal after it was revealed that their eldest son, Josh, had molested four girls — two of them, his younger sisters — when he was a teenager.
But now a ray of sunshine has landed with the Duggar family, in the form of a new son.
Yep, that’s right, the Duggars will now be a family of 20.
They’re taking in the 8-year-old son of Michelle’s niece, Rachel Hutchins, due to the fact that Hutchins is no longer able to care for him.
Court documents show that the couple has been granted temporary custody of the child after Hutchins was found to be “unemployed and homeless.”
This news is particularly interesting, given the fact that Michelle has a seemingly strained and distant relationship with her side of the family. But that’s obviously not stopping her from stepping in and helping.
A source close to the family told InTouch Weekly:
“There’s a strong hope that once that happens they will be able to adopt him.
They didn’t have to think long about coming to the boy’s rescue. Helping this little angel was an answer to their prayers”‘
Hutchins has reportedly already sent over the adoption forms to the Duggars so that they can become the legal guardians of her son.
As for Hutchins, she’s currently on probation for three years after her April arrest on felony charges of breaking and entering and theft.
The source told the magazine:
“She’s a good person, but she’s made some bad decisions.”
A source close to the family believes that despite the past year’s scandals, the Duggars have a good shot of gaining custody:
The sourced added:
“They believe there should be no problems at the November hearing.
Yes, many people were sickened by the way they covered up how Josh was a child molester, but Josh no longer lives in the house and the Duggars are certain their home is a safe environment for a child.”
Jim Bob and Michelle are set to appear in court this November, where they will find out whether or not the adoption will go through.
