The ranking member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), went after the Democrats for their increasing calls for the impeachment of President Donald Trump.
During a Wednesday interview on Fox News‘ “America’s Newsroom,” Jordan — a top member of the House Freedom Caucus — said that he believed the Democrats had “already started” impeachment proceedings against the president but “won’t formally declare it.”
He went on to accuse House Democratic leadership of sharing “secret memorandums of understanding” in an attempt to launch “a coordinated effort to take down” Trump:
“There are secret memorandums of understanding — secret MOUs — between the various chairmen on how they will coordinate their attack on the president. They’re basically contracts. ‘You’re going to do this, we’re going to do this, we’re going to share certain information.’ A coordinated effort to take down the president.”

“So I think they’ve already started; they just won’t formally declare it,” the Ohio Republican continued. “I think at some point, they will probably do it.
“The American people know it’s not justified. The American people know it’s not going to succeed,” Jordan added. “But I don’t think the Democrats can help themselves.”
Jordan continued on in the interview to slam the Democrats as being “ridiculous” with their multiple subpoena demands for Trump’s tax returns, the unredacted version of special counsel Robert Mueller‘s report into Russian election interference, and other documents before blasting them for focusing more on “taking down” the president than helping the country.
The House Oversight Committee’s ranking member then pointed out that the Democrats introduced impeachment articles “the very first day of Congress” after Trump was elected to the presidency.
“I think they’ve been determined to get here, and I think they’ve already started,” Jordan continued. “They just haven’t formally stated that that’s what they’re up to.”
Jordan’s comments come as Democrats — and Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) — ramp up their impeachment calls against the president.
The demands from the Democrats to impeach Trump have drawn ire from some other prominent political players.
As IJR Red previously reported, the president’s 2020 press secretary, Kayleigh McEnany, torched the Democrats for refusing to take into account the facts, blasting them as living in a “fact-free reality.”
