Former Vice President Biden to Announce 2020 Election Run on Thursday: Reports

Brian Snyder/Reuters

Former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden plans to announce on Thursday that he is seeking the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination for the 2020 election, NBC News and CNN reported on Tuesday.

Biden, 77, a longtime senator who served for eight years under Democratic President Barack Obama, would join a crowded field of nearly 20 other candidates seeking to defeat Republican President Donald Trump.

The Atlantic previously reported that Biden would announce his candidacy on Wednesday.

Biden’s announcement would end months of speculation over whether he would seek to challenge Trump, who followed Obama in the White House following his 2016 victory over Democrat Hillary Clinton.

Next Monday, Biden will meet with union workers in Pittsburgh, a pivotal election region in Pennsylvania that backed Trump in 2016, an NBC news reporter said on MSNBC, citing unnamed sources involved in the planning. CNN also reported the planned event.

Trips will follow to all four early voting states – Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada – in coming weeks, NBC reported, adding that all of the details were still being finalized.

Representatives for Biden did not have any immediate comment on the reported plans.

Biden unsuccessfully ran for the presidency twice before and more recently has faced questions about his interactions with women who said he made them feel uncomfortable. Biden has said he believed he never acted inappropriately but would be more mindful about his behavior.

It’s interesting that the top two Dim contenders are old, wealthy, white men who ARE the establishment, neither of who had any achievements or successes prior to their political careers.

This is going to be an interesting primary. The dynamics of the “Young Turks” (AOC, Tlaib, Omar, etc.) and how they interact with the establishment will be entertaining. q.v. Nancy Pelosi’s dancing around so as not to alienate them or the electorate they represent.

Smooch Biden should save his time and go back to Delaware. He was a loser under #44 and he brings nothing to the table but hugs and kisses.

James, Joe “Solid Platinum Lunch Bucket”, has appeal to swing voters and those in flyover country. I wouldn’t count him out just yet.

However, it’s a sure bet someone competing against him is going to revisit his “handsiness” during the primaries. There are also the almost-emolument actions of his family in collusion (there’s that word) with Ukraine and China.

If he is nominated, the Republitards should hammer at least those two points.

C’mon. Do you possibly think anyone with two working brain cells would want a spineless lightweight like Smooch Biden in the WH? He did nothing while representing DE and his only job as VP was to check and make sure Barry was still vertical and breathing every morning. Oh, and he did have a bad case of “foot in mouth” disease every time he got in front of a camera or microphone. Sure is some resume’.

James, you were being rhetorical with the “two working brain cells” right?

Not a one of the literal bumper crop of candidates has an achievements to brag about whether within their professional careers or without.

If they did nothing on the outside why would that change once they were insiders?
