During Wednesday’s installment of “Morning Joe,” host Joe Scarborough — back from vacation — dove right into the Fox News scandal du jour.
The block started with a clip from Tuesday’s “Today” in which Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said that it “bothers [him] a lot” that President Donald Trump helped to craft his son’s statement regarding his emails with Russian operatives.
Co-host Mika Brzezinski then pointed out that Trump initially said he wasn’t involved in the situation with Trump Jr. and the controversial email chain, and that we now know that to be untrue.
Scarborough chimed in, saying, “Well, also known as … that’s a lie.” He then went on a semi-rant in which he joked about being “connected with the kids on the street” and that “they don’t say, ‘That’s not true.’ […] They go, ‘Hey, that’s a lie.’ New lingo.”
Co-host Willie Geist then joked that Scarborough was out “dropping a mix tape with the kids,” to which Scarborough mimed being a DJ, complete with “whicky-whicky” noises.
Brzezinski rattled off a list of things or situations that Trump or the White House had claimed/been involved in, then labeling them as “untrue.”
Last in her list was the recent controversy surrounding Fox News in which a lawsuit claims that the White House worked with the network to promote a false story dealing with murdered DNC staffer Seth Rich.
“A lawsuit says the White House worked with Fox News to concoct a damaging story about Democrats. The White House denies involvement,” Brzezinski said. “But Sean Spicer admits he personally met with the people at the center of the suit.”
Scarborough continued his joke from earlier, saying, “and the kids call that ‘a steaming pile of poo.'”
Brzezinski appeared put off by her fiance’s remarks, saying, “I’m not sure we can make fun of it, it’s terrible.” Scarborough opined that “they’re all terrible; you don’t understand.”
“What would we say to our children about this,” Brezizinski asked.
“I would say, ‘I’m going to send you to your room and going to spank you,'” Scarborough answered.
