Former CIA Director John Brennan fired back at President Donald Trump after he blamed the media for the “anger” in society after multiple bombs were sent out to top Democrats, public figures, and CNN.
“A very big part of the anger we see today in our society is caused by the purposely false and inaccurate reporting of the mainstream media that I refer to as fake news,” Trump tweeted Thursday morning. “It has gotten so bad and hateful that it is beyond description. Mainstream media must clean up its act, FAST!”
Brennan, a regular critic of the president, was quick to respond.
“Stop blaming others. Look in the mirror,” the former CIA director responded. “Your inflammatory rhetoric, insults, lies, and encouragement of physical violence are disgraceful. Clean up your act … try to act presidential. The American people deserve much better. BTW, your critics will not be intimidated into silence.”

The package sent to CNN containing a homemade pipe bomb was addressed to Brennan, who is a contributor for MSNBC.

Brennan and Trump have had regular feuds both on and off Twitter. The president took away Brennan’s security clearance in August, a move that the former CIA director called a “politically motivated decision” and “an attempt to scare into silence others who might dare to challenge [Trump].”
