Piers Morgan skewered Democratic lawmakers Thursday over their āpatheticā behavior during President Donald Trumpās address to Congress.
The Democrats protested Trumpās speech in the House chamber Tuesday night and refused to applaud his special guests, with one congressman even getting escorted out for shouting at the president as he spoke. Morgan said on āFox & Friendsā that their antics were āthe most pathetic, petty, shamefulā behavior he had witnessed.
āI thought it was one of the most pathetic, petty, shameful things Iāve ever witnessed and it went on and on and on. Back in we have Parliament, it gets very rowdy, very noisy, they all have a pump at each other, they lock horns. What you would never see is a 13-year-old boy, a brain cancer survivor, whoās been through 12 surgeries I think, whoās there having his dream lived out on global television and Donald Trump has facilitated that. Just get up,ā Morgan said. āGet up and applaud that boy. The fact that they couldnāt even do that was just contemptible, I really did.ā
āAnd the Democrats should take a good, hard look at themselves because the stupid signs, the not getting up for these poor families of these murdered people, the way they treated that boy, the walkouts, the silly Instagram stuff they did afterward, ālook at me, I didnāt go in,ā this is the President of the United States speaking in the heart of Politics,ā Morgan continued.

Morgan argued that Democrats have ālost the plotā since the 2024 election and are currently scrambling to make a political comeback in future elections. He further stated that Trump is defeating the party on major issues such as womenās rights, as Democrats cannot even support banning men from competing in womenās sports while they verbally cheer on womenās rights.
āI think have lost the plot,ā Morgan continued. āDemocrats have lost the plot. They did not see this big wind coming for Trump in the election, they got completely wiped, they lost all power, and they are scrambling to figure out what they do about this. And I think the key messages that Trump keeps ramming home that America is no longer a woke country and heās sort of a pioneer of a revolution of common sense. They donāt really know what to do about this.ā
During the speech, Trump awarded Devarjaye āD.J.ā Daniel, a 13-year-old boy who suffered from brain cancer, with an honorary Secret Service badge in order to fulfill his dream ofĀ being a police officer.Ā He posthumously honored 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray and Laken Riley, who were murdered at the hands of illegal immigrants, along with 19-year-old volleyball player Peyton McNabb, who suffered from a traumatic brain injury after competing against a transgender-identifying athlete.
The president signed an executive order Tuesday to rename the Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge after Nungaray to commemorate her love of animals and wildlife. Democrats notably did not stand or applaud for any of these special guests or for the family members of Riley and Nungaray.
Lawmakers collectively threatened to protest the speech before it had even started and invited former federal employees who had been laid off by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to be in attendance. Just hours before the speech, 22 Democratic senators released identical videos on social media condemning DOGE chairman Elon Musk and the high prices of eggs, despite them repeatedly stating during former President Joe Bidenās administration that the president has no control over the economy.
Many congressional members also held signs up during the speech that read, āMusk Stealsā and āSave Medicaid.ā
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said during Wednesdayās briefing that the Democratsā portrayed themselves as being āthe party of hateā over their refusal to applaud the special guests. She condemned MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace for invoking the 13-year-old cancer patient to criticize Trump for the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot.
