U.S. Justice Department Resumes Use of the Death Penalty, Schedules Five Executions

The U.S. Justice Department announced on Thursday it was reinstating a two-decades long dormant policy to resume the federal government’s use of capital punishment and immediately scheduled the executions for five death row federal inmates.

“Congress has expressly authorized the death penalty through legislation adopted by the people’s representatives in both houses of Congress and signed by the President,” Attorney General William Barr said in a statement.

“The Justice Department upholds the rule of law – and we owe it to the victims and their families to carry forward the sentence imposed by our justice system.”

U.S. President Donald Trump has called for increasing use of the death penalty for drug traffickers and mass shooters.

The Justice Department said it has scheduled executions for five federal inmates who have been convicted of horrific murders and sex crimes.

Those inmates include Daniel Lewis Lee, a white supremacist who was convicted in Arkansas for murdering a family of three, including an eight-year-old girl.

Another one of the five is Lezmond Mitchell, who was found guilty by a jury in Arizona of stabbing a 63-year-old grandmother and forcing her young granddaughter to sit next to her lifeless body on a car journey before slitting the girl’s throat.

“Each of these inmates has exhausted their appellate and post-conviction remedies,” the department said, adding that all five executions will take place at the U.S. Penitentiary Terre Haute in Indiana.

Speaking of the “death penalty”: Does this now validate the Democrat/Socialist/Communist Party plan to continue with their population reduction agenda the legal community calls “INFANTICIDE” – or as one Leftist Congressional swamp creature said: “Kill them now (as newborns) rather than later (as adults)”?

How’s that for a “Pro-Life” comment, Phyllis? [Not that anyone here needs your approval.]

I was looking for comments from “Pro-Life” posters, but was unable to find one. WHERE are the Pro-Lifers on this? To date, 21 voters are in favor of executing individuals that have not been indicted on ANY crime. Pro-Lifers, speak up.

Hallelujah!!! I so very much agree in death 💀 penalty as there crimes that are so horrific that death should be dealt out! Thank you so much President Trump!!!

At last justice will be served!
When they talk about cruel and unusual punishment, they seem to forget the victims.
It would be a different story if it was one of their loved ones.
Finally justice will be served!!!!!!

I totally agree, it’s about time. We all know this is only happening because we finally have a President who knows that these people are nothing but leeches on taxpayers. Executing 5 on a Federal level is a great start, trying to get States on board with this decision is probably going to be tough but I hope that it happens. The amount of money that is spent housing criminals that are never going to see the light of day without looking through bars is ridiculous. If they were sentenced to death by a jury of their peers, then in… Read more »

it’s about time, should have been done a long time ago.

Finally a punishment to fit the crime. These mass shooters had no fear. Now they will. No more jockeying for a deal.
Mitchell and Lee killed children. They have no redeeming value.
