White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt has added a new family member.
Leavitt announced Thursday she gave birth to her second child on May 1, per NBC News.
She is the first person to give birth while serving in her position.
“On May 1st, Viviana aka ‘Vivi’ joined our family, and our hearts instantly exploded with love,” Leavitt said in a post on X.
The post included a photo of her holding her child.
“She is perfect and healthy, and her big brother is joyfully adjusting to life with his new baby sister. We are enjoying every moment in our blissful newborn bubble,” she added.
“Thank you to everyone who reached out with prayers during my pregnancy – I truly felt them throughout the entire experience. God is Good,” she wrote.
Leavitt, 28, gave birth to her first child, Nicholas or “Niko,” during the 2024 presidential campaign.
Her final White House press briefing was April 27, two days after the alleged attempted assassination of President Donald Trump and other officials at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
Last Monday, she said she thought it was “prudent” to brief reporters at the White House that day after the dinner.
“I hope and pray that this is the last time I speak to you for some time until after my maternity leave,” she said.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio conducted the White House briefing in her absence on Tuesday.
Leavitt is the youngest White House press secretary in history and one of eight women to hold the position.
Oz Pearlman, the mentalist who was slated to perform at the correspondents’ dinner, said he guessed the name of Leavitt’s daughter just before the shooting took place.
“I believe the name was Vivian,” he told ABC News’ Jonathan Karl after the dinner.
