In the game of politics, the celebrity endorsement is a tricky thing.
Whereas companies can expect to dish out millions to land certain celebrities as the face of their product lines, a star’s political endorsement comes straight from the heart – along with all the scandalous past that might come with it.
In the musical genre, Kid Rock stands out among many of his peers as a decidedly conservative voice, which meant it didn’t come as much of a surprise when he seemed to lend his support to Dr. Ben Carson back in February of 2015.
A year later, however, it looks like the “American Badass” has had a change of heart.

In an interview with Rolling Stone published on Monday, Kid Rock said:
“I’m digging Trump.”
Continuing on in his unadulterated style, the musician explained why:
“I feel like a lot of people, whether you’re a Democrat or a Republican, feel like if you get Hillary or Bernie, or you get Rubio or Cruz or whoever, there’s going to be the same sh*t. Has that much f*cking changed when anyone’s in office, whether it’s been a Republican or a Democrat in office, in our lifetime, anyway? I haven’t really seen this big, like, f*cking change…
My feeling: let the motherf*cking business guy run it like a f*cking business.”
Adding a detail that many would find hard to argue with, Kid Rock noted:
“And his campaign has been entertaining as sh*t.”
A study of Oprah’s 2008 endorsement of Barack Obama was estimated to have netted the then-candidate 1,015,559 votes in the Democratic primary.
Though he may not have as much sway as the billionaire Winfrey, Kid Rock has certainly carved out his own particular niche in the world of music.
