Kinzinger Tells Ted Cruz to Do His ‘Research’ Before Spreading Misinformation About COVID-19 Restrictions

WASHINGTON, DC - JULY 27: Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) listens during the House Select Committee investigating the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol on July 27, 2021 at the Cannon House Office Building in Washington, DC. Members of law enforcement testified about the attack by supporters of former President Donald Trump on the U.S. Capitol. According to authorities, about 140 police officers were injured when they were trampled, had objects thrown at them, and sprayed with chemical irritants during the insurrection. Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger is taking heat for a post he made about “violent rhetoric” after former President Donald Trump seems to have survived another assassination attempt.

On Sunday, Kinzinger — a noted Trump critic and supporter of Vice President Kamala Harris — wrote on X, “Look violent rhetoric is wrong, and has no place. But MAGA pretending they didn’t light this fire is gaslighting to the 100th power. Since Trump showed up our politics has gone to crap.”

“Literally just accused a group of people of eating our pets. So stop,” he added.

Look violent rhetoric is wrong, and has no place.

But MAGA pretending they didn’t light this fire is gaslighting to the 100th power. Since Trump showed up our politics has gone to crap.

Literally just accused a group of people of eating our pets.

So stop

The part about pets refers to a dunked theory that Haitian migrants were stealing pets in Springfield, Ohio.

However, the post comes after Trump survived a second apparent assassination attempt in just nine weeks.

Check out some of the reactions to Kinzinger’s post:

On Sunday, Trump was at his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida, when Secret Secret Service agents a few holes ahead of the former president on the field saw the muzzle of an AK-47-style rifle sticking through the pushes and opened fire.

The Associated Press notes the gunman dropped his gun and fled but was later arrested and identified as Ryan Routh.

Law enforcement officials said they found two backpacks, a scope, and a GoPro camera in the spot where Routh was allegedly hiding.

The alleged would-be assassin reportedly was a strong supporter of Ukraine, previously stating he was willing to fight and die for the country.

Trump was reported to be safe after the incident.
