The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) fact-checked KTLA5 on Friday, after the Los Angeles local news outlet claimed that DHS Secretary Kristi Noem attended the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raid of a pregnant U.S. mother’s home in nearby Huntington Park.

KTLA5, an affiliate of The CW, had reported on Thursday night that the U.S. citizen and mother of four, Sabrina Medina, was in the shower at 6 a.m. that day when she realized her house was surrounded by several vehicles of ICE agents. The DHS responded with an X post the following day, “FAKE NEWS. At this house was an illegal alien from Mexico who had previously been deported.”

“I was just terrified,” Medina reportedly told KTLA5, “I was shaking. I was scared. I’ve never gone through anything like this.”

The DHS post revealed that Medina’s husband, David Garcia, has a criminal history of “drug trafficking and assault.”

Fox News’ Bill Melugin wrote on X Friday that he attended the ICE raid with Noem on Thursday, and that the raid “wasn’t targeting a ‘pregnant mother’, it was targeting her previously deported illegal alien Mexican husband who had been convicted of drug trafficking in February & had an attempted murder charge pleaded down to an assault conviction.”

Melugin added in his post that “ICE had a criminal judicial warrant for his arrest, signed off on by a federal judge,” and that the reason KTLA5 didn’t report any surrounding details of the ICE raid was that the outlet “only spoke to [the illegal’s] wife.”

KTLA5 eventually corrected their post with the editor’s note, “This article has been updated to include the intended target of the raid.”

However, in the updated article, the outlet doesn’t mention Garcia until the seventh paragraph.

Noem mentioned Huntington Park in a press conference later Thursday afternoon, where security forcibly removed Democratic California Sen. Alex Padilla for interrupting the conference and condemning the Trump Administration’s treatment of illegal immigrants in America via strategic ICE raids.

Leftist-funded anti-ICE riots have broken out across the country, starting in LA, and have included Molotov cocktails, attacks on federal officers, the burning of U.S. flags, and the waving of Mexican flags.
