‘Last Man Standing’ Fans Rally for a Reboot — And Star Tim Allen Is ‘Overwhelmed’ by Their Support

When ABC canceled Tim Allen’s sitcom “Last Man Standing,” fans were devastated.

But perhaps no one was more disappointed than Allen himself, who believed that the show filled an important gap left by the typical network sitcom fare:

The fact that it showed great diversity of thought and entertainment, they dismissed. That didn’t seem to matter. … I think they made a terrible mistake with a very creative project. It could have done so many things.

The sitcom was ABC’s No. 2 ratings draw at the time, trailing only “Modern Family.” So no one saw it coming:

After a failed attempt to get the show picked up on a cable network, the recent reboots of other shows — particularly “Roseanne,” which is set to feature Roseanne herself as a Trump supporter — have inspired fans to rally a little more loudly for someone to bring back “Last Man Standing”:

Allen is more of a car guy in real life than a tool man:

So, naturally, he gave a racing analogy to describe his feelings about a possible comeback:

I know fans would love nothing more than for us to take the cover off, fire up the engine, back this car out of the garage and get it back on the highway, full-throttle. My sentiment sits in the front seat beside you.

He also told Fox News that the support he has seen on social media from fans who want to see the show return has been “truly overwhelming to me and so appreciated.”
