Cassie Ventura, the ex of music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, was crossed examined during the third day of the rapper’s sex trafficking and racketeering trial my Combs’ defense team on Thursday.
According to ABC News, the ex-singer was asked about a raft of past text messages she sent to Combs that aimed to discredit her account of physical and sexual abuse at the hands of Combs, and rather portrayed Ventura as a willing participant.
Ventura was questioned about her testimony over the first two days of the trial, and messages from over a decade ago that appear to show she was eager to engage in “freak offs,” drug-fueled orgies that Ventura alleged would sometimes go on for days.
Combs’ attorney Anna Estevao asked Ventura a series of questions about messages between Combs and Ventura that planned dates and expressed feelings for each other.
During the first two days of the trial, Ventura admitted she was in love with Combs for over 10 years and wanted to build a life with him.
“We’ve only really had one week of each other just together and I can say that it’s been the best and worst,” Ventura wrote in 2007. “I’m sad, mad, frustrated and hurt that you just don’t feel like I’m the right one.”
“I love you so much it consumes my life,” Ventura wrote in April 2010.
Ventura said that over time Combs became violent, jealous, and would fly into a rage.
“The more time I spent with him and got to know him, his real personality — or at least what I thought was his real personality — came out,” Ventura testified.
Ventura acknowledged that she had wanted to participate in freak-offs at the beginning, alleging she did it because she was eager to please Combs, but did not enjoy them after it included sex with prostitutes and other strangers.
Combs’ defense team refuted this claim, however, presenting Ventura with a plethora of messages she had sent to Combs, including a message that said, “I’m always ready to freak off,” which Ventura sent in August 2009.
Ventura was questioned about her reluctance to participate in freak offs by Combs’ defense, suggesting she wanted more from the relationship.
“When we used to freak off when were so in love. There were no questions asked, it felt right, like it literally made sense for the next step in our sex life together. I get nervous that I’m just becoming the girlfriend that you get your fantasies off with and that’s it. I don’t get the other part,” Ventura wrote to Combs in December 2009.
