Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), one of President Donald Trump’s biggest cheerleaders in the Senate, is warning the president that the Democrats will go after him after the release of the Mueller report.
The Mueller report broke upon Washington without a recommendation that the president be indicted for obstruction of justice or collusion with a foreign power. The report didn’t exonerate the president — mostly, it just said that there’s not really any smoking gun.
On Monday night, the South Carolina senator went on Sean Hannity’s show and laid out his case.
“The idea that the Mueller report is not the final word on all things Trump, Russia, collusion, obstruction is news to me,” Graham said. “I thought we all trusted Mueller.
“There’s going to be a stampede to impeach President Trump,” he continued. “They’re going use the Mueller report, anything they can find, to try to destroy his presidency. […] I expect that there will be impeachment proceedings against President Trump.”

“And the Mueller report, to me, is vindication of President Trump,” he added.
On Monday night, CNN gave several of the 2020 Democratic presidential nominees town halls, in which most of them set out their views on impeachment. Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) said that Congress “should take the steps towards impeachment,” while South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg said, “I think he’s made it pretty clear that he deserves impeachment.”
Graham has spent the past few weeks playing defense for the White House on the Mueller report. Most recently, he’s objected to bringing special counsel Robert Mueller in to testify on Capitol Hill.
Before the Mueller report was even released, Graham was calling for another investigation to dive into Hillary Clinton. But now that the report is out and stops short of indicting the president, it seems that the South Carolinian is ready to put it all behind us.
