Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) proclaimed that the U.S. needed to “deliver an overwhelming military response” to Iran should it follow through on its threats after he was briefed on the situation in the Islamic Republic by national security adviser John Bolton.

In a pair of tweets published Monday, Graham — a staunch senatorial ally of President Donald Trump — stated that Bolton had informed him of the situation surrounding the “escalating tensions” between the U.S. and Iran and the actions “against American interests” made by the Islamic Republic.

“Just received a briefing from National Security Advisor Bolton about escalating tensions with Iran,” Graham tweeted. “It is clear that over the last several weeks Iran has attacked pipelines and ships of other nations and created threat streams against American interests in Iraq.”

Graham went on to say that the “fault” for the rising tensions was on Iran and not the U.S. “or any other nation.”

He then called for the U.S. to be ready to “deliver an overwhelming military response” to Iran if it went through with its threats of aggression against our nation’s “personnel and interests”:

“The fault lies with the Iranians, not the United States or any other nation. If the Iranian threats against American personnel and interests are activated we must deliver an overwhelming military response.”

“Stand firm, Mr. President,” Graham added.

The South Carolina senator’s tweets came after he said last week that he felt lawmakers had not been “well informed” about the situation with Iran as well as the Trump administration’s move to pull U.S. assets out of Iraq.

Trump sent a message to Iran on Twitter on Sunday, warning the Islamic Republic against attacking the U.S. and proclaiming that it would “be the official end of Iran” if it “wants to fight.”

As IJR Red noted, Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) claimed Monday that the president was “acting like the dictator [she] thinks he wants to be” by issuing the warning to Iran.

I’m wondering how #44 now feels after his $150 Billion gift to the mullahs of Iran. It may have appeased his brother
Muslims then; but Trump is not a brother Muslim or the appeasing type of person ANY Nation would want to cross swords with. “Don’t Mess With Texas” also holds true for the whole United States of America. “Have B-52’s; Will Travel”.
