Despite the controversy surrounding former FBI Director James Comey’s written testimony released on Wednesday, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) told host Martha MacCallum on Fox News’s “The Story” that President Donald Trump looked innocent at the end of the day.
“All in all, it’s a pretty good day for President Trump,” Graham said. Graham specifically referred to Comey’s confirmation that Trump was not under FBI investigation.
Based on Comey’s testimony, Graham said Trump did not obstruct justice. That was made even more apparent to Graham in light of news that Special Counsel Robert Mueller coordinated with Comey before his testimony.
“If [Mueller] really believed there was [an] obstruction of justice case to be made against the president,” Graham reasoned, “he wouldn’t let his star and only witness [Comey]” testify.
