Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) slammed Democratic women who gave a standing ovation for themselves but stayed silent during other important moments.
Cheney took to Twitter to point out that while the lawmakers cheered loudly for the largest number of women in Congress, they stayed silent during mentions of low unemployment and law enforcement.
“Things my Democrat women colleagues wouldn’t clap for at
#StateOfTheUnion2019 tonight: America, freedom, free enterprise, law enforcement heroes, record low unemployment for women & minorities, the right of babies to live. Things they did clap for: themselves,” Cheney tweeted.

During President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address, he pointed out employment rates for women and the increased diversity of Congress.
“No one has benefited more from our thriving economy than women, who have filled 58 percent of the newly created jobs last year,” Trump said.
This got applause from the women in Congress, which erupted into cheers after Trump’s following statement.
“You weren’t supposed to do that,” Trump said. “Don’t sit yet, you’re going to like this. Exactly one century since after Congress passed the constitutional amendment giving women the right to vote, we also have more women serving in Congress than at any time before.”
However, others also pointed out the strange lack of applause for bipartisan issues such as minority unemployment and the economy.
Things Ocasio-Cortez didn't applaud;
– Record low African-American & Hispanic unemployment
– Stopping sex traffickers
– The "common good"
– ICE agent who saved 300 girls from smugglers
– Not killing full term babies

Trump touts historicly good economic numbers, historically low unemployment & getting millions of American off food stamps.
GOP SIDE: Roaring, standing cheers
DEM SIDE: (Not joking) No standing, no cheering, no clapping. Literally ***nothing*** from 95% of Dem caucus

During a time of disunity, it important for lawmakers to show they are willing to cheer for issues that are important for everyone, and the Democrats lost an important opportunity to do that during the address.
