In a recent interview with MSNBC, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) discussed the possibility of impeachment.
“The president is a criminal. The president worked with Cohen, instructed him to go and pay these women to be quiet, to shut them up,” Waters said. “The president was not just simply complicit in all of this, he is the one that initiated this with his attorney. This criminal must be brought up by the Congress of the United States for impeachment. And if we don’t do it, we’re derelict in our duty.”
While Trump has not been convicted of any crimes related to the payments, Waters is already acting as if the president is a convicted criminal.

Waters also criticized some critics saying that the impeachment proceedings would distract from important issues.
“There are some who say that it would be too disruptive, we’ve got too many other things to do. I have said over and over again we can walk and we can chew gum at the same time,” the California Democrat said, who will likely be the next chair of the House Financial Services Committee. “[…] We cannot continue with the president who lies.”
The representative gave examples of issues that happened before Trump was in office, and she did not give any criminal reasons to move forward with impeachment. Waters has a history of going after Trump and his supporters, and it seems like their feud may be rekindled due to her comments.
