Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) addressed former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s remarks on CNN about civility between protestors and government officials.

McConnell said on the Senate floor that confirming Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh was a victory for “reason and deliberation” against “mob tactics.”

Hillary’s comments

“The far-left mob is not letting up,” McConnell said in response to Clinton’s comments. “[…] She told CNN exactly how she views millions of Americans who hold different political views from her own.”

“You cannot be civil with a political party that wants to destroy what you stand for, what you care about,” Clinton said during a CNN interview.

“That’s why I believe, if we are fortunate enough to win back the House and/or the Senate, that’s when civility can start again,” she continued, as IJR previously reported. “But until then, the only thing that the Republicans seem to recognize and respect is strength.”

“No peace until they get their way? More of these unhinged tactics?” McConnell said in response. “Apparently, this is the left’s rallying cry.”

“But fortunately, the American people know that the fact-free politics of hate, fear, and intimidation are not how we actually govern in our democratic republic,” McConnell continued. “The Senate and the nation will not be intimidated.”

  1. Cocaine Mitch is right. Conditional civility is not a guarantee.

No negotiations succeed without a position of strength (attended enough seminars and lived long enough to know this).

F Hillary and her “civility”. She and her minions should be very very cautious. They will HATE it when we start exercising the same lack of civility they do. e.g. let’s start harassing and picketing figures on their side. We’ve already started reciprocating their “terror” tactics of threatening people and doxing them.

It’s not right. It’s not civil, but faced with uncivil savages you either hit them back or they take it as encouragement. Make THEM say “uncle” or kill as many of them as possible. There is nothing civil about domestic terrorists like Bill Ayers walking about free.

    The dead are remarkably civil.

    • The problem with that approach is the media, as in they own it… I’m with you in the spirit of it, but that kind of behavior is not winning them centrists and independents, it only serves to satiate their base’s sense of accomplishment, however undeserving…There needs to be adults in the room here…at least until after midterms anyway…

      • F the media. They are preaching to the already perverted as a propaganda arm of the Dims.

Let’s put their heads on pikes and spike their tongues to their foreheads, but only after “nationalizing” their wealth (aren’t they for income redistribution?).

    • No. They hold the centrists and the “rest of us” in contempt. There are NO adults on their side. Have you seen a single one walking back or denouncing the violence of Antifa, the harassment of those who think differently, or the attacks on Susan Collins, Melania Trump, Dana Loesch, their families or children?

It’s time to exterminate these savages and provide an object lesson that societies either move towards civility or savagery and that they’ve crossed that line.

  3. Part of the problem here is the Democrats have not made it clear to Hillary that she is not the head of the party and she believes she speaks for all of them. How nice for conservatives.

  4. I posted on the Christiane Amanpour/Hillary/CNN twitter post the following comment.

“OK Hillary. How do you see this cessation of civility playing out? By all means, be concise, and detailed in your description of this.”

While I’ve not received a response— and don’t think she has the courage to respond– I told them I do expect one, otherwise all she’s done is incite violence against half the country’s citizens.

    • When rule of law breaks down (it has) and “civility” is just a sound byte then we become Kosovo. Kurt Schlichter has seen this and cautioned against it, but we’re heading that way, pedal to the metal.

  5. Is the Left longing for a martyr? Someday soon the violent infants on their side will cross a person with a car (happened here in Portland) or a gun.

In saner times surrounding and pounding a person’s car while issuing verbal threats would be construed as life-threatening. Not Portland, where the mayor enables violent protestors to menace and harass local businesses, residents, and federal agencies plus creating a toxic health hazard.

Yes, the barbarians are here. If our “leaders” won’t stand up to them will we roll over for them?
