People Freak Out Over Message On Melania’s Jacket — Her Office Hits Back With an Important Lesson

First lady Melania Trump visited a children’s detention center in Texas on Thursday in the midst of drama surrounding children being separated from their parents, who crossed the border illegally.

“We all know they are here without their families, and I want to thank you for your hard work, your compassion, and your kindness you’re giving them in these difficult times,” she said.

Shortly after arriving, the first lady signed an American flag on the wall that read, “Welcome First Lady!”

However, The Daily Mail then noticed that, as the first lady was boarding the plane, she was wearing a green jacket sold at Zara. Scrawled on the back of the coat in large white writing were the words, “I really don’t care do u?”

People immediately began responding on social media:

Despite the criticism, a spokeswoman for the first lady explained it was a jacket and “there was no hidden message” behind it:

Melania Trump’s visit came just one day after her husband, President Donald Trump, signed an executive order to keep families together at the border.

“We’re going to have strong, very strong borders, but we’re going to keep the families together,” the president stated. “I didn’t like the sight or the feeling of families being separated.”
