‘I Love What I Do’: Melania Shares With Military Families How She’s Hoping for a Second Term as FLOTUS

The U.S. first lady Melania Trump is expressing her love for her White House role and how she’d love to continue as the first lady, as her husband is gearing up for re-election in the 2020 presidential election.

The first lady, alongside second lady Karen Pence, traveled to Fort Bragg in North Carolina on Monday where they met with members and families of the U.S. armed forces and toured the base facilities.

“Our military is the embodiment of our Nation’s spirit and the protector of our freedoms,” Trump said prior to her visit, according to the White House.

In honor of the month of the military child, the two ladies visited Albritton Middle School on Fort Bragg, where both the first lady and second lady expressed their gratefulness of serving the country in their White House roles.

Trump and Pence took questions from students during their visit.

“It’s a great honor to be first lady of this incredible country. … I’m proud and I’m very happy to serve this country,” Trump said when asked by a student what it’s like to be the first lady of the U.S.

Another student asked the first lady if she’d like to continue her role as the first lady, which prompted Trump to respond that she’d like to serve another term.

“I think our husbands are doing [a] fantastic job and I will support my husband if he decided to run again,” she said. “And yes, it’s a privilege, a great honor to serve and I will be here.”

“What a privilege and honor to be able to go on this journey and it would be a privilege to continue as well,” second lady Pence mirrored Trump’s response.

“I love what I do,” Trump said in response to a student’s question about their lives changing when moving to the White House. She added that she’d like to continue shining a light on the next generation of children by spreading “positivity and confidence” with her “Be Best” initiative.

When asked how she balances her role as the first lady and being a mother, Trump said her son, Barron, is the first priority, adding that she learns to juggle it all.

During their Fort Bragg visit, the two ladies also received demonstrations of special operations capabilities and were briefed on the selection and training of elite U.S. special operators.
