Melania Just Got Out of Surgery and People Have Already Found a Way to Attack Her Marriage Over It

On Monday afternoon, the White House released a statement explaining that first lady Melania Trump had kidney surgery at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and would remain at the hospital for the rest of the week. 

“The procedure was successful and there were no complications,” the statement said. “The First Lady looks forward to a full recovery so she can continue her work on behalf of children everywhere.” The White House explained that problems leading to the surgery were benign. 

However, it didn’t take long for people to go after Melania’s husband, President Donald Trump, in the midst of the announcement.

Amy Siskind — president of The New Agenda, an organization “dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls” — criticized Trump for not being there for her surgery:

Then, Trump sent his first tweet after the surgery announcement and sparked criticism for not mentioning his wife. 

Kate Bennett, a White House reporter for CNN, pointed out that the first lady was able to hide the major news from the press without a single leak, in contrast to her husband, who has had constant issues with staffers leaking:

Trump tackled that topic soon after, saying that he would “find out who they are!”:
