Melania Trump Sues Two Media Outlets for Suggesting She Was an Escort

Melania Trump is now suing two publications for libel following stories suggesting she was an escort during her early modeling days.

CNN reports that Mrs. Trump, the spouse of GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, has filed a $150 million libel suit against U.K. newspaper The Daily Mail and U.S. blog Tarpley. In a statement, her attorney Charles Harder said:

“Defendants broadcast their lies to millions of people throughout the U.S. and the world—without any justification. Their many lies include, among others, that Mrs. Trump supposedly was an ‘escort’ in the 1990s before she met her husband. Defendants’ actions are so egregious, malicious and harmful to Mrs. Trump that her damages are estimated at $150 million dollars.”

Harder also represented Hulk Hogan in his successful suit against Gawker.

In August, Mrs. Trump threatened to sue nine separate media outlets for reporting on the story. At least two of the outlets threatened with legal action apologized. The Daily Mail also appears to have taken down its story.
