Former First Lady Melania Trump is reportedly advocating for former Fox News host Tucker Carlson to be former President Donald Trumpās running mate.
Melania Trump believes Carlson could be a powerful addition to Trumpās cabinet as vice president if he receives the Republican presidential nomination, a source close to Trump told Axios.
āI like Tucker a lot,ā Trump said when asked by hosts Clay Travis and Buck Sexton during an interview on āThe Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Showā whether he would consider Carlson as his vice president. āI guess I would. I think Iād say I would.ā
Trump continued to praise Carlson for his āgreat common sense.ā
Carlson recently revealed in an interview with Roseanne Barr that he became an āactiveā supporter of the former president when the FBI raided his Mar-a-Lago residence in August 2022.
āI agree with Trump on a lot,ā Carlson added. āBut, even if I disagreed with Trump on a lot, Iād still be a Trump supporter because you can not allow that. You can not allow the regime, the president of the United States, to use the Justice Department to knock the frontrunner out of the race.ā
Other people who are reportedly being considered to be Trumpās vice president include Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R); former Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake; South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R), and author of āHillbilly Elegy;ā and Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio).
Reps. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) have also reportedly been considered to be Trumpās running mate.
Carlson previously admitted in an interview in June that he had no plans to run for president in the 2024 Presidential Election.
Many people close to Trump have reportedly discounted the idea of Carlson as Trumpās running mate because they donāt think he will pick someone who may take the spotlight away from him and how they see as uncontrollable.
