From Hillary Returns to Her Old Talking Points by Claiming Abrams Would Be GA Gov if She Had 'Fair Election'on
Kemp’s lead has narrowed every day as more votes come through, although his lead is still substantial to claim victory without a recount. Check out the Blue response here: https://ijr.com/hillary-clinton-in-a-fair-election-stacey-abrams-wouldve-already-won/
From Ocasio-Cortez Thinks Amazon’s Development in Her District Is a Bad Thing ― A CEO Explains Why She Is Wrongon
Surprisingly enough, some conservatives are siding with Ocasio-Cortez. Notably, Fox News host Tucker Carlson. Check it out: https://ijr.com/tucker-carlson-alexandria-ocasio-cortez-amazon-criticism/
From 'This Is America': Cruz and O'Rourke Set a Bipartisan Example During Airport Run-in After Midterm Raceon
I saw that Ted Cruz tweeted about this A LOT — the picture is on his feed five times! Interesting end to a heated campaign.
Reminds me of her statement on Colbert before the election about how she was certain Democrats would take back the House. Pelosi’s been bold lately – but so far it’s paying off. It’ll be interesting if the streak continues.
From POTUS Receives Rare Praise from an Unlikely Source After Announcing Support for Prison Reform Billon
There’s been a lot of surprising bipartisan statements from both politicians and pundits since the election, like Tucker Carlson praising Ocasio-Cortez for her stance on Amazon. It seems like now the fight is over, people may be ready to work together.
No major surprises here, the Republicans seem pretty much on the same page since the election. The Democrat leader elections may be more interesting, especially with all the new House members.
From DC Jumps on the Plastic Straw Ban Bandwagon — Churches, Businesses to Face Fines for Not Complyingon
When I moved to the D.C. area, the amount of plastic and trash in the Potomac River shocked me. These new rules are definitely gonna shake up businesses at first, but if this is anything like the plastic bag ban in California, it will settle into the new normal soon enough and the Potomac may suffer a little less.
From Norway’s Healthcare System Sets the Gold Standard for Mothers and Children, While the US Lags Far Behindon
I wonder with an all-time record of women in Congress if the numbers will slowly change. The correlation between the number of women in office and the quality of care in other countries is telling. Then again, this new record amount of women in Congress is only about 20 percent.
Trump’s visits to California will be one to watch, especially the press pools. The president will be facing some reporters who have lost their own homes in the disaster. Trump’s first tweet on the wildfire blamed California for the disaster and threatened an end to federal funding. He’s since backed down as the body count has risen.
From Republican Lawmakers Break with Trump on Maintaining Saudi Arabia Relationship After Khashoggi Deathon
Trump left out in his statement that Khashoggi was a U.S. resident, a detail I believe is too important to not mention.
I visited the holocaust museum this summer. It told the stories of persecuted people fleeing their home countries and trying to seek refuge here in the United States. Many of them were turned away and died as a result. Obviously there’s substantial differences, but I if the majority of asylum seekers are fleeing for their lives and their families lives, I see why Ocasio-Cortez could make a comparison.
From Clintons Kick Off Speaking Tour by Bashing Trump — But Ticket Sales Show People Literally Aren't Buying Iton
Quite a contrast to Michelle Obama’s book tour which is selling out stadiums (for ridiculously high priced tickets). I’m not really sure what the Clinton’s appeal would be in Canada either, seemed strange to not start the tour in their own country.
From FLOTUS Inspires Students to Change the World While Addressing Opioid Crisis: 'I Believe in the Power of All of You'on
I’m really happy Melania is bringing more attention to the opioid crisis. It’s an issue that extends beyond party lines and demographics and is affecting everyone.
From Conway Offers Compassion and Common Sense: Best Way to Help Migrant Families Is to Help Them Come Legallyon
The best way to help migrant families is to help them come legally, that’s absolutely right. But the United States has been letting in less and less asylum seekers and changing the rules on who can apply, including women and their families that come from domestic violence situations. Kellyanne’s words don’t match the actions of the administration.
From Dem Socialist Darling Ocasio-Cortez Feels Like an 'American Revolutionary' — Founding Fathers Wouldn't Think Soon
The founding fathers defiantly wouldn’t agree with her, but also they wouldn’t even want Ocasio-Cortez to have the right to vote or run for office based on her race and gender. The founding fathers had a good foundation that progress has been built upon over 200 years to raise the voices of people like Ocasio-Cortez.
From Melania Gives a Closer Look at the 'Bravery, Heart, and Patriotism' Behind Her WH Christmas Decorationson
I didn’t realize they accepted volunteers to help decorate, I just assumed it was all White House staff. What a cool opportunity for people, especially military families.
It’s unfair to women workers that men’s ability to be with their coworkers hurts the women and not the guys that refuse to collaborate, travel, etc. Instead of avoidance, companies need to thoroughly explain and train employees on sexual harassment. This effect is for sure a downside, but in my opinion, the positives of getting creeps out of positions of power far outweigh the negatives.

I would love to see those two collaborate on some sort of philanthropic or educational project.
From McCaskill Admits Dems' '11th-Hour Attempt to Gut' Kavanaugh Was a Bad Look — Blames Party for Her Losson
I partly agree with McCaskill. Democrats were right to want to thoroughly look into credible allegations, but it seemed almost disingenuous, like they were excited they finally had an excuse to take down a Trump nominee and get revenge for Merrick Garland instead of really being concerned for Ford and the allegations. Not a good look for moderate voters who ultimately had the power this November.
John Kelly is the “Plaid Shirt Guy” of the Trump administration
Government shutdowns used to be rare and now they’re commonly used as a threat to get what Congress or the president wants. It’s going to affect so many people and put a lot of lives on hold, is that really worth it for funding for a border wall? Especially when Trump repeatedly promised in his campaign that the wall would come out of Mexico’s pocket?
From Sarah Sanders Hopes She's Showing Her Daughter She Can Have a Family, a Career or 'Everything' with WH Roleon
Sanders role in the White House is truly groundbreaking. She said in that same interview she’s the first mother to ever have the job, setting an example to anyone who thinks hiring women with kids for big positions would be too much to handle.
Can it be because liberal-leaning people have more choices when it comes to where they watch their news? Fox news is go-to for conservative-minded people, liberals can go to either MSNBC or CNN. Maybe there’s an opportunity for another conservative news channel to rise and create some competition?
From California Already Has the Highest Taxes in the US — Now They’re Considering Taxing Text Messageson
I’d be shocked if this actually passes. Californians pay a lot of money in taxes for social programs, often times voting to do so through state propositions. But a tax on text messaging just takes it to far, and the negative press it has gotten will take it down for sure.
From Dennis Quaid Explains Innocence of 'Baby, It's Cold Outside' Classic Amid Stirring Controversy With MeTooon
Totally get why people can interpret this the wrong way, especially the “what’s in this drink” line, but I really do think it’s supposed to be a playful teasing tune. It’s interesting how this debate blew up this year, I’ve been hearing about problems about this song since I was a young teenager. And for those who don’t like the lyrics but like the tune, there’s a lot of cute and creative covers of the song that change the lyrics a bit.
How did a 7-year-old not get water in the 8 hours she was in custody? That just doesn’t make sense to me. I don’t think the administration can completely put this on the family when she wasn’t given food and water in her final hours of care. If her father was being neglectful, they needed to step in. I think more social workers and child care experts should be working at the border to prevent this kind of thing from happening. That girl had no choice but to follow her father on the journey.
Never really though of it this way. It would be interesting if instead of fining people for getting plastic bags, rewarding people for using reusable bags or no bag at all, like 5 cents off their purchase or a coupon of some sort.
From ‘God Put You Here for a Reason’: Crenshaw Spoke to Pete Davison After His Concerning Social Media Poston
I think it goes to show that checking up on people who are showing concerning signs is important and vital, whether you’re close with them or not. Really sweet thing for Crenshaw to do.
From This Man's Epic Ploy to Catch Package Thieves Red-Handed Is the Ultimate Act of Vigilante Justiceon
Can all of my Amazon packages have this please?
This is really disappointing from Ocasio-Cortez. Especially her defense tweet … I’m pretty sure Politico has strict policies of when they can use anonymous sources and how they verify them. All publications have that figured out. Major publications use anonymous sources all the time and she didn’t call them out until she fell victim to one.
One Last Time has always been one of my favorite Hamilton songs and I always though it would be cool to do it with Obama. I think Lin Manuel Miranda read my mind.
From Here’s How Dan Crenshaw, the Republican Breakout Star of the Midterms, Wants to Use His Voice in Congresson
I’m looking forward to see what he does in Congress. What he did on SNL shows he has thick skin, a sense of humor and willingness to reach out to people he disagrees with, that kind of attitude is really needed in Washington right now
From Triple Amputee Vet Raising Money for Wall Reveals 'Many Democrats' Are Thanking Him for His Effortson
I’m confused what Kolfage is trying to accomplish here. Any amount made over go fund me will barely make a dent in what is actually need for the wall. Even though he put the goal as $1 billion, Trump said the wall could cost as little as $15 billion, with some experts being it could cost much more. Go fund me has campaigns for individuals who desperately need support … this kind of seems like a waste of donations to me.
From Dan Crenshaw Draws Upon His Navy SEAL Experience to Explain Exactly Why the Border Wall Would Workon
The Democrats sound bite of “a wall doesn’t work” isn’t effective, because an argument like Crenshaw’s can take that down easily. Dems really need to start explaining WHY they think a wall wouldn’t work, whether it be because the gov would have to seize land from private citizens creating legal battles, it would disrupt animal migration, it will probably cost more that $5 billion, and the simple fact that the large majority of undocumented immigrants come over by plane.
From what I’ve seen on social media today, a lot of liberals are making Flake comparisons too. The op-ed was tough talk, but no one’s going to believe Romney until he actually acts.

From Unpaid Guards Working During the Shutdown Fume About Serving Inmates Steak to Boost Prisoner 'Morale'on
I feel like the prison guards should be more angry at the fact Congress is still getting their large paychecks while they struggle to compromise to get the government open. Yeah, the inmates are getting a nice meal, but it’s one out of the whole year and at the end of the day they still got to eat it in prison in their jumpsuits and away from their families and society.
From VA Lawmaker Proposes Bill That Lets Mothers Request an Abortion While in Labor: 'My Bill Would Allow That'on
It’s really unfortunate that the physician witness wasn’t there because Tran did an awful job explaining. An abortion that late in the pregnancy isn’t an abortion in the typical sense, it’s either a medically induced delivery or c-section of a non-viable fetus. It’s just scientifically not possible to have an abortion while in labor. Also, third-trimester abortions are already legal in Virginia, Tran’s proposal just calls for fewer restrictions.
I completely agree. My bet is she’s waiting until the end of her book tour and then she’s going to announce it while she’s in California. She’ll have some home state hype and California is playing a way bigger role in the primaries this year because it’s election day is sooner.
From GOP Group Calls on Time Magazine to Honor Parkland Hero as ‘Person of the Year’ Over Mueller, Dr. Fordon

From Colbert Rips Trump Over Awkward Funeral Moments: 'Only Person in the World Who Can Bring Down a Funeral'on
I really don’t agree with the sentiment that the eulogizers were taking a dig at Trump. But as a comedian I think Colbert doesn’t have to stay within that boundary. I think most of his jokes were tasteful considering the event. Personally, I didn’t like how he and others took a dig at Trump and Melania for not reciting the Apostles Creed. Everyone worships in their own way and mocking that went too far for me.
From Most Congress Members Don't Pay Their Interns — Ocasio-Cortez is Promising 'At Least' $15 an Houron
Great question Gerald. It would be impossible for Ocasio-Cortez to take extra taxpayer money just for her interns. All money for her operations comes from a set Senate operations budget. This year, Trump raised that budget by 6 percent as part of his spending bill. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2018/04/13/senators-have-more-money-now-will-they-finally-pay-their-interns/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.c07b620c156b
From Rep. Joe Kennedy III Wants to Fix 'Badly Broken' Policy By Legalizing Marijuana at the Federal Levelon
UCLA is discovering some pretty amazing breakthroughs with their new cannabis research program. I listened to an interview with Jeff Chen who heads the UCLA program the other day, they’re finding that some cannabinoids can stop and even reverse addition to other drugs. They’re also finding some have a positive effect on tumors in their animal studies. However, they do hit a lot of roadblocks because of it’s class one drug schedule, which could slow down really important medical research.
