Michelle Obama Dances With Santa at Colorado Children’s Hospital

Former first lady Michelle Obama spread holiday cheer at Children’s Hospital Colorado on Thursday, teaching Santa Claus a dance from the popular video game “Fortnite.”

Obama and Santa surprised a group of kids at the hospital and read to the crowd Christmas classics like “The Night Before Christmas.”

Watch the video below:

After reading, the former first lady created a viral moment by standing up and doing the “orange justice” dance from Fortnite with a child in the audience.

She then encouraged Santa to join her and taught him how to do the dance. More kids stood up and joined in on the fun.

Watch the video below:

The former first lady was in Denver Thursday to promote her new memoir “Becoming.” Denver was just another stop in Obama’s book tour that will take her around the United States and Canada and will eventually make its way over to Europe, where she’s expecting large crowds in Paris, London, Stockholm, and other major European cities.

Obama recently put her tour on hold and canceled multiple dates to accommodate her attendance at the funeral of former President George H. W. Bush.

“It’s important to me to join the Bush family in celebrating President George H.W. Bush’s exemplary life,” Obama tweeted. “This will unfortunately preclude my visits to Paris and Berlin.”

She has since worked to reschedule her missed tour dates.

If there is any Obama involved it is not good. You had 8 years in the limelight now just go away.

This is a great story about a funny moment of the former first lady. It’s also great to see her visit a children’s hospital where she read a Christmas book to the children. The current first lady Melania Trump did the same (https://ijr.com/melania-traditional-christmas-childrens-hospital/).

^ Proof that all first ladys, current and past, are subject to all sorts of nastiness.

Do the taxpayers still pay for secret service for her “book tours” in conveniently foreign cities? Or does she cover her own costs? Believe you know the answer. What other First Lady thinks she can dance? None I remember. Classy.

You’re acting like she got drunk and threw up in her purse.

She was being fun and goofy for kids at a children’s hospital. It is appropriate.

Forgot the question intentionally? Who’s paying SS? Never thought of her as funny. Barbara Bush was funny without being hurtful and condescending

No, just didn’t seem worth responding. I’m sure she has some SS detail just as all recent past presidents and families do. I do not know the cost or if she supplements it for her tour. I did not expect her to stay home and do nothing.

I do get some of her past statements may have been shitty to hear, but they did resonate with some of the country. You can be hurt and bitter OR try understanding what has contributed to why some would feel that way.

The dancing was for the kids – not you.

Ladies, in the spirit of Christmas, let’s just say it was an innocent and harmless act.

I have no idea what Fortnite (some kind of video opioid?) and “Orange Justice” are, but as long as it didn’t involve grinding, twerking , or “happy endings” in the Champagne Room AND Mrs. Claus would not object, then what’s the harm?

Not Hurt or bitter. That’s a liberals state of mind after 2016. Lots of dodging. Of course, she has SS to promote her book. Look it up. Everyone’s idea of class and good taste is different. Thank goodness.

full weirdness: I had a longtime neighbor (2+ decades) ask me if I celebrate Christmas because he thought I was a Buddhist.

Of course I do, whether I’m Buddhist (not) or just an American celebrating the happiness and goodwill of the season. Theoretically.

Choosing to dance with Santa is nasty?

Not at all – i considered the original comment nasty and unnecessary. Nasty as in mean.

I also think its sad how much negativity is directed at first ladies, current and past, when must of what they do is community service activities. This was a good example of spreading Christmas cheer and the response annoyed me.

I agree. Unless working political agendas I believe the wives and children should be left out. q.v. Melania, Laura, etc. Michelle has been politically involved even while in the WH, though daughters Malia and Sasha were exempted. q.v Barron.

Unfortunately Michelle continues to inject herself after her husband has left office. She’s on a commercial venture promoting her own book (it’s political contents aside). So that makes her a public and commercial figure and fair game.

I’d agree with you, but I remember comments like this well before she helped enact any policy.

And its very common for a first lady to champion a cause that gets passed in some sort of policy act. That Melania hasn’t yet is probably more due to the amount of time she has been in office.

The hackneyed phrase, “If you can’t stand the heat get out of the kitchen.” comes to mind.

What we comment here means doodlysquat. People, plus ex-1sts, will do whatever.

In proportion to her “short” time I think Melania has caught more shit than either Michelle OR Laura.(8 yrs each) Is the media that much more on the attack?

Also, is Barron more a target than Sasha, Malia, Barbara, or Jenna?

Screwtape, my comment was regarding the unfair negativity toward all first ladies. Again, i think its ridiculous and I don’t care which first lady (past or present) its pointed at or what side of the aisle it comes from.

Because I make a comment in support of Michelle Obama doesn’t mean I’m automatically against Melania Trump. I like both of them just fine.

I’m not accusing you, but consider the amount of press, negative otherwise, received by each.
