Actor Mickey Rourke voluntarily surrendered a shotgun, saying he no longer wanted it.

This action is the latest of news events surrounding Rourke, including facing Eviction from a house he is rented in Los Angeles and the subsequent GoFundMe campaign he ultimately denounced,Ā People reported.

The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department said a member of Rourke’s team called Wednesday, perĀ KNBC.

Deputies spoke with Rourke, 73, about the firearm, which was legally registered. They took the gun for safekeeping.

Rourke said he was leaving the area and did not want the firearm.

KNBC reported that if he does not claim the gun after a year, it would be destroyed.

Earlier this month, a GoFundMe campaign was announced in light of news the actor allegedly owes about $61,000 in past-due rent.

Liya-Joelle Jones, who called herself an assistant to Rourke’s manager Kimberly Hines, started the GoFundMe campaign with a goal of $100,000. Donations have been ā€œpausedā€ after $91,781 was raised.

The fundraiser was titled ā€œHelp Mickey Rourke Stay in His Home. The description claimed that it was ā€œcreated with Mickey’s full permission to help cover immediate housing-related expenses and prevent Eviction.ā€

However, Rourke said he had no knowledge of the fundraiser.

In an Instagram post Monday, Rourke stated, ā€œThat’s not me, OK?ā€

Rourke called it a ā€œhumiliatingā€ campaign.

ā€œIf I needed money, I wouldn’t ask for no f*****g charity.ā€

Rourke said he would ā€œnever ask strangers or fans or anybody for a nickel. That’s not my style.ā€

Hines told ā€œThe Hollywood Reporterā€ the fundraiser was created by Rourke’s team and he was informed of it. She added he may not have understood at the time.

They have ā€œmoved him out of his houseā€ and claimed the home had ā€œblack moldā€ and no running water.
