Romney Calls Trump’s Requests from Foreign Governments ‘Wrong and Appalling’

Since being elected to the Senate in 2018, Mitt Romney (R-Utah) has shown that he’s willing to criticize President Donald Trump when the president steps completely out of bounds. On Friday, the former presidential candidate called out Trump for saying that he wants the Ukrainians and Chinese to investigate Joe Biden (D).

In a string of tweets, Romney said that Trump’s request “strains credulity to suggest that it is anything other than politically motivated.” In a follow-up tweet, he added, “By all appearances, the President’s brazen and unprecedented appeal to China and to Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden is wrong and appalling.”

Romney’s tweets followed a Thursday appearance outside the White House in which Trump called on both Ukraine and China to investigate his political opponent.

In his remarks, Trump said that Ukraine should “investigate the Bidens.” Moments later, he added, “China should start an investigation into the Bidens. Because what happened in China is just about as bad as what happened with Ukraine.” He continued, “If it were me, I would recommend that they start an investigation into the Bidens.”

Here’s that clip:

Trump is catching heat and giving the impeachment probe fuel after a White House summary of his phone call with the Ukrainian president showed him saying, “I would like you to do us a favor though,” and asking the foreign leader to investigate his political rival.

That worsened on Thursday night when a House Committee released text messages between two Trump aides and in which one of his diplomats wrote: “Are we now saying that security assistance and WH meeting are conditioned on investigations?”

The president has insisted that he did nothing wrong. He says that there was nothing wrong in his conversation with the Ukrainians and that he is actually the victim of a massive “witch hunt” orchestrated by the Democrats.

“Which is worse, investigating credible allegations of corruption* and asking foreign assistance in doing so OR getting huffy because a man who succeeded where you failed is doing so?” I Ching

That is a false equivalency used to justify an illegal act by your king and you know it.

FINALLY, some hint as to what to accurately search for.

OK, so what King Donald The Loser is doing is using an agreement with a foreign government to share information as a cover for making illegal election solicitations to get dirt on an opponent from that foreign government for personal gain.

Got it.

Screw, you posted THREE comments and not 1 do you even attempt to defend Trump’s public or private requests for foreign nationals assistance in the 2020 election. 52 USC 30121 is very clear as to what is illegal. Is ignoring the law your attempt to express that you consider Trump above the law? WHAT ELSE are we to make of your jibber jabber about Romney to deflect from the issue?

I’d like to ask Mitt (is he a catcher?) a question.

Which is worse, investigating credible allegations of corruption* and asking foreign assistance in doing so OR getting huffy because a man who succeeded where you failed is doing so?

*the prime suspect is stupid enough to have publicly bragged about it. Maybe he should have stuck to groping unwilling women/underage girls.

Genital,

“Name this treaty.”, i.e. the anti-corruption treaty between the US and Ukraine.

You may have heard of this thing called a web search. Hint: it’s REALLY easy to use. Even you might figure it out.

That Romney got elected as a Republican’t is wrong and appalling. At best he’s a moderate Dim.

What is so wrong with the POTUS abiding by a signed 1998 Agreement with Ukraine in which both Nations agreed to help each other root out corruption. Wouldn’t the latest mess instigated by the former VP and his crooked son (who was booted out of the Navy for drug use) qualify under the Agreement?
