‘Monopoly Man’ Trolls Mick Mulvaney at Senate Banking Committee Hearing

CFPB Director Mick Mulvaney had a fan in the room during a hearing before the Senate Banking Committee — the “Monopoly Man.”

Mulvaney was appearing before the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s semi-annual report to Congress, but the special guest in the crowd stole the show.

Seated directly in view of the camera was a woman in costume resembling Monopoly’s mascot ‘Rich Uncle Pennybags’:

The mustachioed audience member was Amanda Werner, campaign strategist for consumer protection group Public Justice:

And Werner was ready with plenty of props to troll Mulvaney during the hearing:

At one point, a second mustache appeared on Werner’s hat:

“Mick Mulvaney famously slandered the CFPB as a ‘sick, sad’ joke,” Public Justice explained. “But today, the joke is on him.”

Werner and Public Justice staged the same protest during hearings on the Equifax breach in October. You can watch Mulvaney’s hearing on the Senate Banking committee’s website.
