Multimillionaire Nancy Pelosi Claims Trump Can’t Relate to Furloughed Workers Because He’s Too Rich

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) accidentally caught herself in a trap of hypocrisy when she tried to attack President Donald Trump for refusing to cave on his wall negotiations to reopen the government.

According to the president, Pelosi completely took wall funding off the table as an option, even if the president was to temporarily reopen the government.

After the brief meeting, Pelosi met with reporters to tell her side of the story. She came down hard on Trump for refusing to reopen the border, claiming that he cannot relate to the furloughed government workers because he comes from a wealthy family.

Watch Pelosi’s remarks below:

“In a few days, many federal workers will not be receiving their paychecks, and what that means in their lives is tragic in terms of their credit rating, paying their mortgage, paying their rent, paying their car payment, paying their children’s tuition, and the rest. The president seems to be insensitive to that. He thinks maybe they could just ask their father for more money, but they can’t.”

This was an attack from Pelosi on Trump because he not only acquired great wealth for himself, but he also came from a wealthy family.

But Pelosi herself also has great wealth and came from a successful family. According to Roll Call, Pelosi has an estimated net worth of $16 million. Pelosi’s dad, Thomas D’Alesandro Jr., was both a congressman and the mayor of Baltimore.

Pelosi spent her Christmas holiday in Hawaii during the beginning days of the shutdown at a resort that costs $899 per night for a standard room and $4,899 per night for the presidential suite, according to the Washington Free Beacon.

Meanwhile, Trump canceled his trip to Mar-a-Lago to stay in the Oval Office during the holidays in case someone wanted to restart negotiations. The only break he took from the White House was to visit the troops in Iraq, as IJR previously reported.

Ms. Pelosi was all for raising the federal minimum wage back in 2007 but curiosly exempted American Samoa which is where the fishermen and canning plants of StarKist Tuna is based. Del Monte Foods, owns StarKist and is based in Pelosi’s district. Ms. Pelosi voted for a minimum wage increase for ALL of the US, but exempted American Samoa!! Her husband owned $17 million in Del Monte stock at the time. She’s for the common man? I think not!!!

Nancy is saying that being wealthy disables the ability to empathize with furloughed workers.
Nancy is wealthy.
Therefore Nancy is punching herself.

When millions of hard working folks were laid off under Nobama’s term, nobody cried for us!
Suffer short term for long term results is the right thing to do!
Vote ALL Republican in 2020 or it’s OVER!

“This was an attack from Pelosi on Trump because he not only acquired great wealth for himself, but he also came from a wealthy family.”

You aren’t making much of a case for Trump considering the shinanigans that pappa Trump went through to not pay taxes getting that $413M (or more) to Trump. While a lot of rich people don’t/can’t apply much empathy to people not allowed to cover their bills while working, do you really think Trump showed any at all last night, or ever?

This article is not informative, promotes ill will, and makes assumptions about Nancy. Nancy didn’t claim to be middle income. She made a statement about Trump that is undoubtedly true. This twisting of information is irresponsible reporting. A better story would be about how our government has turned into a Plutocracy. Take the money out of politics and this article is moot.

Good one Nancy.

Now tell us how walls are “immoral” and “ineffective” when you have walls (and armed private security) around your SF mansion, your DC home, and your other properties.

I remember being “braced” by your private security while on a PUBLIC road just outside your Napa estate. That one has a wall as well.
