Just what do you give someone known for cutting government waste.
The answer appears to be a gilded chainsaw.
That is exactly what Elon Musk, head of the Department of Government Efficiency, received Thursday at the Conservative Political Action Conference, per Politico.
Musk talked about his work with DOGE, tasked with cutting government waste as he sat for an interview with Rob Schmitt from Newsmax.
Musk was asked to describe the inside of his mind.
He replied, “a storm.”
“I am become meme,” he said.
Musk received applause and gifts while he was onstage. Argentine President Javier Milei gave the tech mogul a gilded chainsaw.
He was also given a sci-fi-themed painting of himself.
Musk has worked to cut federal grants and reduce the size of the government workforce since President Donald Trump took office last month.
Some have been skeptical of Musk, who once voted Democrat.
In particular, Steve Bannon, the former top Trump adviser, has called out Musk for being a “parasitic illegal immigrant.”
He added Musk “wants to impose his freak experiments and play-act as God without any respect for the country’s history, values or traditions.”
In turn, Musk called Bannon “a great talker, but not a great doer.”
