In March, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told the Washington Post that impeaching President Donald Trump “is just not worth it.” That comment split her with certain factions in her party who have loudly endorsed impeaching the president but on Wednesday, Pelosi seemed to wobble on her previous statement.
In an event hosted by the Washington Post, Pelosi said, “The point is, is that every single day, whether it’s obstruction, obstruction, obstruction, obstruction of having people come to the table with facts; ignoring subpoenas every single day, the president is making a case — he’s becoming self-impeachable.”
During the interview, Pelosi also reiterated her belief that she thinks impeachment is a bad thing for the country and said she thinks Trump knows how she feels about impeachment.

Speaking with the Post in March, the Speaker said, “Impeachment is so divisive to the country that unless there’s something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don’t think we should go down that path.”
The California lawmaker seemed to suggest that Trump’s recent actions of blocking Congressional inquiries — the White House has instructed Trump’s former attorney Don McGahn to ignore a subpoena issued by Congress — are furthering the case for his impeachment.
When Robert Mueller issued his final report on the 2016 election and the Trump campaign, he stopped short of making a decision on whether President Trump should be indicted on charges of obstruction of justice.
While Pelosi has come out publicly against impeachment, it’s an issue that has split the party. Some 2020 Democrats, including Sen. Elizabeth Warren, have said publicly that they support impeachment, as IJR Blue noted.
Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, who is among the new faction of Democrats in the House, turned heads during her first week in Congress when she promised a crowd, “We’re gonna impeach the motherf**ker.”
