Fox News contributor and former Speaker of the House Rep. Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) torched freshman Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) as being “viciously dishonest” with her recent comments regarding the situation at the southern border.
During an interview on Fox Business Network’s “Mornings with Maria,” Gingrich blasted the self-described democratic socialist’s recent comments about Border Patrol agents at a migrant holding facility in El Paso, Texas, as being “viciously dishonest.”
The former House Speaker also called the freshman Democrat out for going after the Border Patrol agents in the facility after voting against the $4.6 billion aid package to help with the crisis at the border.
As IJR News previously reported, Ocasio-Cortez claimed that migrants in the facility were forced to drink from the toilets in their cells and were subjected to “psychological warfare” from the agents working at the facility.

“I just think that what she said about the border, what she said about American government employees, was viciously dishonest. She knew it was dishonest. It weakens the United States.
Here you have a person who votes against paying for the extra money — which the Border Patrol said they desparately need — and then attacks the Border Patrol when they don’t get the money she doesn’t want to give them.”
He went on to say that he believes there is something “so fundamentally, profoundly, wrong about her” as well as “her whole approach to things.”
Gingrich joins other prominent Republicans in lambasting Ocasio-Cortez for her comments.
As IJR Red previously reported, White House Deputy Press Secretary Hogan Gidley called out the freshman Democrat for her comments, saying it was “hypocritical and ridiculous for her to make those claims” about the Border Patrol agents when she voted against the bill that would have given more funding to the facilities.
