AOC Calls Out Dems, Claims the ‘Bigger National Scandal’ Is Them Not Impeaching Trump

Freshman firebrand Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) railed against her own party for not impeaching President Donald Trump.

In a tweet published on Saturday, Ocasio-Cortez — the self-described democratic socialist congresswoman and member of the “Squad” — called out the House Democrats, claiming that the “bigger scandal” facing the nation was their “refusal” to bring impeachment proceedings against Trump.

“At this point, the bigger national scandal isn’t the president’s lawbreaking behavior – it is the Democratic Party’s refusal to impeach him for it,” wrote Ocasio-Cortez.

President Jimmy Carter‘s former speechwriter James Fallows responded to the New York Democrat’s tweet, saying that he believed Ocasio-Cortez’s comment to be a “‘false equivalence’ of its own sorts” and that the president’s actions still “remains objectively the biggest threat, scandal, and problem.”

“Second-ranking: the silent acquiescence of the GOP Senate,” continued Fallows. “Then: it’s time for House to act.”

Ocasio-Cortez responded to Fallows, doubling down on her previous tweet and saying that the House Democrat’s silence on the matter of impeachment should come as a surprise to people.

“It is one thing for a sitting president to break the law. It’s another to let him. The integrity of our democracy isn’t threatened when a president breaks the law. It‘s threatened when we do nothing about it. The GOP’s silence [and] refusal to act shouldn’t be a surprise. Ours is.”

Many Democratic lawmakers have been calling for the impeachment of the president, but Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has been hesitant to move forward with the process.

As IJR previously reported, the House speaker seemed to be shaken after being bombarded by questions on whether or not she would “concede” that she supports an impeachment inquiry into Trump.

Additionally, Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Md.) warned his colleagues in the House from becoming an “impeachment Congress” amid impeachment demands of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

“Democratic leadership . . . weak and corrupt . . .” I said nearly those same words a few days ago and YOU called me a liar; that the Democrats were NOT corrupt.” Confused James There is no way that I said this. None. I have REPEATEDLY said the same thing, literally, for years, that the DNC is corrupt and weak. The leadership of BOTH parties must go through a clensing, if we are to get anywhere. The Republicans showed the Democrats how to deal with our corruption and feed at that trough, back in the 1980s. Why would I… Read more »

“If there was substantial FACTUAL EVIDENCE of Trump violating the Law, would ANYONE on the face of this earth believe that Trump would still be our sitting POTUS?” Brad I am confused? Why does any of that surprise you – in any aay? There is lots of evidence that King Donald The Loser has broken a number of laws, but there is a problem. 1) NONE of the so called “Republicans” have any sort of balls or interest in stopping the King because he gets them everything they ever wanted since the 1970s. Both the king and the GOP want… Read more »

If there was substantial FACTUAL EVIDENCE of Trump violating the Law, would ANYONE on the face of this earth believe that Trump would still be our sitting POTUS? I for one am angered about all the illegal offenses that many, many Democrats have violated and are still empowered and out freely walking our streets. Let’s just take the last Administration and go from Obama on down…….there are 100’s of people who have violated their oaths of office and Federal Law……and how many have ever even been indicted? NONE…..ZERO……NOTTA! Just stop for a moment and think since Obama how dirty the… Read more »

.Absolutely-Clueless lives in a glass house. If she thinks Trump should be impeached for NO charges, then she should consider her own faults, including hiring her boyfriend AND giving him a Congressional email. We have not forgotten her threats to use her office to persecute her detractors. Let’s have HER removed from committees (impeachment isn’t possible, but the 2020 elections are looming) and forced to sit ONLY.

Funny how Omar has gone silent. So has Tlaib. Pressley is now stepping up for the rest of her Twisted Sisters, the Marxist Molls.

AOC, the “Mouth That Roared”, is wrong as usual.

If Trump broke laws, then prove it and have actual grounds for impeachment, not the performance art the Dims are performing for their base. He didn’t and you cannot.
