O’Rourke Accidentally Celebrates the Change in Demand of AR-15s After He Promised to Confiscate Them

Former Congressman Beto O’Rourke (D-Texas) accidentally celebrated the change in demand for AR-15s apparently caused by his promise to confiscate such weapons.

Following a lull in his campaign, O’Rourke has rebuilt his 2020 presidential bid on the issue of gun violence after several mass shootings. Part of his plan is to force Americans into a mandatory gun buyback for “weapons of war” or “military-style weapons.”

While most Democrats want nothing to do with the word “confiscation,” O’Rourke has embraced it, saying in the last debate, “Hell yes we’re going to take your AR-15s, your AK-47.”

This triggered many gun owners into bulking up on weapons they believe may be banned in the future. The National Rifle Association (NRA) even jokingly called him “salesman of the month.”

In response to this troll by the NRA, O’Rourke tweeted them an article from the Associated Press and claimed, “Colt Firearms just announced they’re stopping production of AR-15s.”

The problem for O’Rourke was that the change had little to do with his confiscation plan.

In the story, Colt had to change their sales because the market was “already saturated with similar weapons” and they needed to focus on “fulfilling their military and law enforcement contracts” because “saturated with similar weapons.”

In other words, demand was so high that Colt couldn’t keep up and needed to stop producing for the general public. Colt’s CEO Dennis Veilleux said in a statement that the company “remains committed to the Second Amendment and is adapting to consumer demand.”

Twitter users did not let O’Rourke’s error slip by unnoticed. Several hopped online to make fun of the 2020 candidate for his accidental celebration of an uptick in gun sales.

O’Rourke is one of 20 candidates left in the 2020 Democratic presidential primary. He has consistently polled in sixth place in national polls. It remains unclear how his newfound gun platform will impact his race in the long run.

James,

Those “Texans” were almost certainly transplants from Blue states or figments of his narrative. I’m betting he’s simply lying.

What “tells” his lie is this: WHY were these people even at a gun show if they were ready to give up their guns? Were they shopping for replacements?

I’m not sure how one would distinguish a “real” Texan, though birth, as a legal citizen in the state, might be the best way, If that’s the case, one of my kids is a “real” Texan.

Wasn't it Bozo O'Rourke who said the Texans were (my words) "almost begging him to confiscate their AR-15's and AK-47's"? This creep is NOT a Texan because a REAL Texan wants his weapon of choice.

I wonder if Beta might consider that they’ve run out of guns to sell as a result of his declared intentions? He’s apparently never heard of “panic buying” nor has any idea of a thing called manufacturing/inventory lag?

I suspect that manufacturers will ramp things up after the doldrums of Trump’s victory. I’ll wait for bargains when he wins again.

Tex Kennedy is a long way from taking Salesman of the Year (SOY) from Clinton (either one) or Obozo. Were he a stronger contender (he’s not) sales would rise in proportion.

Colt made a business decision to fulfill a long-standing contract. He’d understand that if he ever worked a real job in real business.

There are literally hundreds of other AR-15 pattern manufacturers including Sig Sauer, FN, Daniel Defense, LWRC, POF, etc. The disarmers completely misunderstand the sheer #s and modularity of the AR15 platform, but ignorance is one of their “strengths”.

The Real Clear Politics National poll has Bozo in 6th place at 3%. He’s been up to 5% and frequently off the bottom of the charts. His ILLEGAL gun confiscation plan won’t win him any friends or voters; so, his best move would be to go back to El Paso and stay there. I doubt even he knows how stupid he is; maybe his wife – Amy – or his youngsters will clue him in.
