Paul Ryan’s SOTU Guest Is a 6-Year-Old Boy Both Sides of the Aisle Can Rally Behind

Ahead of President Donald Trump’s first State of the Union address, Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) greeted his guests.

Among his three guests were Kyle Pucek, who has been sober since November 2013 after suffering from opioid addiction at only 23 years old. Ryan tweeted that he’s used his own experience to help others through various local groups.

Ryan also invited Cathy Cenzon-DeCarlo, who was “forced to assist with a late-term abortion” despite citing that it was against her religious beliefs.

Two of his guests seemed to be a way for Ryan to send a message about the causes he cares about. The pro-life stance could also be a point of contention for Democrats. However, his third guest is one that both sides of the aisle can definitively rally around.

The speaker also invited 6-year-old Jackson Poulos. He tweeted that he’s a “fighter who beat a very rare form of cancer.”

Fortunately, the young boy received a clear scan, and Ryan said, “I’m happy to have him as my SOTU guest.”

The two embraced in a hug, and in one photo, as Poulos smiled for the camera, Ryan took a moment to adjust the young boy’s tie.
